Newbie, former longhair, Thinking about going all the way

Been thinking about it for a while now. Cut the long hair short about a year ago, and the itch to shave has been there a while now.
I have never even had a buzz cut, but I think I'd rather go all the way right off.
Advice? Opinions?

Just try Sly for the heck of it. You might like it. Looks like you've got plenty of hair if you want to go back.

Well, if you think you want to go for it and skip the intermediate step of buzzing down, do it. If you don't like it, let your hair grow back and see what length you like. I went directly from a full head to smooth and sly.
By the way, if the itch to shave is there, it'll bother you until you do it. No amount of photoshopping or standing in front of a mirror covering your hair will give you the experience of being fully shaved.

Quoted for truth. Because it's not only about how it looks, but how it
feels.

This is exactly what I have been doing. It's nagging at me for sure, even done a Photoshop bald head, and the wife liked the look of it even though I was unsure.

I say go for it gwhite. Since you already have the urge to do it you may as well go ahead and see if you like it.
I'm quite sure you will, and then you'll be glad you didn't wait any longer.

If your wife liked the look, you've got support right there to go for it! Most of us worry about what we'll look like and what other people will think, but those are hurdles of our own making.
When I brought up the topic with my wife, she said give it a try. That made the decision so much easier. I've been sly for over seven weeks and it's good to know that my with thinks it looks (and feels) great.

How does it feel? Never experienced hair less than2-3".
Wife's At a conference till Saturday thinking it may be a good time to do it and surprise her. She's already expressed she'd like it and she has a # 3 guard on the sides and back of her hair with longer hair on top, she says the cliPpers feel great. Should I do it at home or hit the barbershop?

Experiencing no hair feels really great. Once you've gotten a smooth shave, you'll want to keep it that way. There's something that hard to describe about rubbing your hand across a smooth clean dome. It has to be experienced firsthand. I shave daily and look forward to the "just shaved" feel. Interestingly, when I had hair, I didn't look forward to combing it!
I had my head buzzed down with no guard at a barbershop and then went home and shaved clean. If you have clippers, you can do it at home.
If you do it while you wife is away, you'll have a couple days to get used to the look and feel and can get a little practice shaving, too.
Good luck with your decision - I can tell you are going to go sly!

Thinking I should do it tonight, I do have clippers in the house. Thinking about doing A short guard then no guard, if I like it, razor time! She'll be shock, up until a year ago inhad mid back length hair!

Sounds like a plan! Good luck. I'll warn you in advance that once you buzz down, you'll want to get the razor out to see what it's like to by fully sly!

Being nervous is understandable because it's a big step. Hair does grow pretty fast, so if you don't like it, it's a temporary situation, but I'm guessing you'll like it enough to stick it out for a while. I'm amazed at how fast seven weeks has gone and how "normal" being sly now is.

Gonna sleep on it, may hit the barbershop at lunch tomorrow, there's an old shop close to workbthat will do a straight razor shave, and a face shave. May as well go all the way.

Thinkin' and doin', two different things,
Doin' it, and ya don't like is is like a bad haircut, It Will grown back, in just a short period of time.
