Random Gibberish.
« on: July 24, 2010, 01:26:13 PM »
I don't know if its thanks mostly to the anti-depressants that i am currently taking, but i went out for a few drinks last wednesday with some friends for the first time in... well ages!
Had a great night and the only comments made about my new sly haircut were positive ones.
So roll up tonight and im invited out by some friends for a few beers. I couldn't decide whether or not to go, so i went and had a shower, picked out some half decent clothes and tried to get myself in the mood for socialising/whatever.
But in the end i told my friends to leave without me and so here i am now alone in the flat, miserable and knowing exactly how foolish it all is...
I have my first therepy session this wednesday and im due to finally return to work on the tuesday..
I swear i can't believe this sh*t is still going on, If i don't get it together asap im going to lose my job, the house im about to move into and the friends who have been so patient with me.
...Rant over!

Stay on your medication as prescribed, work with your therapist, life will improve--at least you're on the right path.

Anti-depressant medication and alcohol are a dangerous mixture!  Read that label bro... you are NOT supposed to be drinking!  ;)

I said "medication as prescribed"--I'm sure they didn't say 2 a day with G&T, would have been nice, but that's not real.  Come on Mercury, stay w/ the program.

Careful with booze bro, as has already been said. Be open and honest with your therapist, no secrets just say what you feel. Be true to yourself by being honest with the therapist.

Don't worry, im going to give it straight. If im heading down the whole 'therepy' route then i may as well do it properly.
As for the drinking... I can't argue with logic, i'll try to be more careful.
Just so frustrating that just a couple of days ago i was out in the thick of it and surrounded by people and ok with that. And now i feel like im back to square one.

Well it's a glass half empty or a glass half full situation isn't it?  You have seen a lot of problems, but recently you saw the goal--and the goal is sweet.  You know where you're going, remember that.

Hang on there, anti-depressants are not narcotics or anything like that.
I'm taking Welbutrin, and it doesn't say anything alcohol. It all depends on the exact medication, the dosage, etc..  AND how much you drink.
OTOH, I only drink socially, not all the time, and I'm older. But honestly,  I'm more worried about Tylenol - acetaminophen can kill your liver, and alcohol hastens it.
But I don't think alcohol and Paxil or Celexa or whatever are automatically gonna make someone freak out, though, the younger you are, the more risk, I suppose.
Hair today.. gone tomorrow!  (sorry)

Booze which is a depressant  is actually defeating the purpose of an anti-depressant.

I don't know how long you've been on your meds, but anti-depressants take 30 days to reach full effect and if after 30 days its not working theres lots of other meds your doctor can switch you to. You have to find which pills work best with the chemical makeup of your body.
The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the Past better than it was,
the Present worse than it is & the future less resolved than it will be.
