« on: May 17, 2010, 07:11:10 PM »
waiting for wenesday's annoucement from italy when the Italians will either put the Rome bid forward or the Venice bid forward, i will be pissed if CONI decided to submit Venice to the IOC, I want another Rome Olympics, the last time Rome hosted was 1960.
I want a second Rome Olympics and i love the people of Rome, I dont want a Paris Olympics, I hate the city of Paris

Isn't Italy one of the European countries most likely to default right after Greece? (yup) So how will they pay for the Olympics? That is a big part of the reason Greece is in financial trouble.

I might not be up on my Olympics politics, but would the Olympics come back to Europe, only eight years after 2012?

In fact I can probably answer my own question:

1988 Seol
1992 Barcelona
1996 Atlanta
2000 Sydney
2004 Athens (was a bit of a done deal though after missing out on 2000)
2008 Beijing
2012 London
2016 Rio

Actually maybe it is possible.  I am not sure about the other candidate countries.  I wonder when the first African Olympics will be?  Also Asia has to be in with a shout in 2020.
A SBG's head shines so other SBG's always have the opportunity to see the reflection of how good they look!

MY support is for the Rome bid, my birth country Canada might put Toronto as a bid, but i dont support the bid , i dont want the games in my birth country,

the 2018 winter games will go to Pyoengchang South Korea the decision will be made in South africa in 2011, i dont see Munich Germany or Annecy France beating the Koreans, plus iam supporting the Korean bid for 2018 , a 2018 winter games in Europe will hurt Rome,
africa , lets see how the world cup goes,
asia will have the winter games for 2018 in south korea, 30 years after the wonderful Seoul Olympics
Canada - too soon after Vancouver
USA - they have to repair their relations with the IOC after the Salt Lake City scandel, and the  Atlanta olympics
the other 2020 bids are
Tokyo
New Dehli
Cape Town
Toronto

Iam waiting for the moment when Jacques Rogge, the IOC president steps up to the podium and announce, "The International Olympic Comitteee annouces that the Games of the XXXIInd Olympiad in the Year 2020 are awarded to the City of ROMA"

It would have been 24 years since it had been in the United States.  My guess is 2020 will be in the U.S.  I could see San Francisco getting the bid for the U.S.
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

i doubt the us has a chance, the usoc doesnt want to do a 2020 bid, the usoc is going to test run a Denver bid for the Winter games of 2022,

My gut feeling is
2018 Winter Olympics - PyoengChang South Korea
2020 Summer Olympics - Rome Italy
2022 Winter Olympics - Denver Colorado USA
2024 Summer Olympics - Capetown South Africa
2026 Winter Olympics - Munich Germany
2028 Summer Olympics - Tokyo Japan

It would have been 24 years since it had been in the United States.  My guess is 2020 will be in the U.S.  I could see San Francisco getting the bid for the U.S.

hoping that the Games of the XXXIInd olympiad opens at the Stadio Olimpico at the Foro Italico, 60 years after the magical 1960 games that were in Roma

I don't see Atlanta, like Munich, getting it again.
