Does buzzing at #1 and #0 every other day irritates skin? If yes, what to do?

Hey there guys
Right now I buzz my hair on a #2, and am planning to gradually go to 1 and 0 afterwards.
I intend to stick to the no-guard buzz cut because I think it might look cool; don't think I'll go to the blade, but hey, you never know what the future holds.
Anyway, back to what I was saying before: is there anything that I should do to take special care of the scalp once I start buzzing it down to 1 or 0? I intend to buzz it down every two or three days, I don't know maybe it might irritate the skin or something... So how to prevent it from happening, some moisturizer, just some shampoo etc? I really have no idea, this world is new to me lol
That's it guys, thanks for the attention

It should be fine as long as you don't jam the sharp end into your skin. Put it up against your skin, but not into. It never bothered me when I buzzed it, but I shave now.

remember to protect your scalp from sunburn at all times. If you decide on a no-guard cut it might get irritating if you have to wear caps, etc. for long periods, other than that wash it and go.

I think using any kind of moisturizing product becomes more difficult with any kind of stubble. It just doesn't rub in as well and all those little stubbies get coated with the stuff!

I'm part-time sly. I razor it smooth in the summer, but wear hair during the cooler parts of the year.
One of the reasons I go sly (in addition to the look and feel) is that I've found it such a pain to use sunscreen on my head when I've worn the buzz cuts. It's so much easier to put lotions on a smooth scalp than stubble. In fact, I've never had sunburn while sly, but I got a nasty sunburn on my scalp once while I was wearing the 000 buzz.

The only thing I found with buzzing to a number 0 (which i did about four or five months before going SLY) was that sometimes I got pimples and itching if the bare blades werent 100% clean. You've really got to clean them thoroughly after each use. Better still, buy some clippers that can be used wet or dry, then theyre easier to clean (mine were dry clippers only). The itching I expirienced was the main reason why I took to shaving instead: something I never regretted doing!

I wore a #1 and #0 buzz for a while. The velcro feel is going to drive you nuts and you'll likely end up shaving it slick. So, why not just try shaving it slick and see what you think. If you like the #0 better, let it grow for 2 days and you're right back at the #0 look.
Plus, rubbing a slick dome is much more enjoyable than rubbing velcro.

I did the tight buzz for only 2 weeks before I decided to shave. There was no skin irritation. But with the buzz cut I often had the feeling that dirt or something was sticking to my head.
Like bem said, why don't you try to shave right away? You'll be curious about it anyway.

Hey there, thanks for the replies guys
Well, I will probably end up shaving it at least once to see what it's like eventually, but first I'll try the #1, #0 looks, gradually... Also, I already have the clippers so there's no need to buy equipment for that. But since I plan on adopting this "low or no" hair style permanently, there will definitely be plenty of opportunities to shave lol
Back to #0, let me see if I got things together:
* Keeping the clippers without guard close to skin, but not INTO it
* Gotta clean well the blades of the clippers after every use
* Just washing the head with soap or shampoo should do it fine
* Sun protection (maybe some gel thing, since lotions or creams probably are a mess with a #0)
Missed something? Anything else?

Think ya might have it down packed. Just to re-enforce the before said, take care of the skin in the sun even if you live where it's winter.

This might sound like a no-brainer, but if you oil your clippers, make sure you get any extra off. I was sloppy last time I oiled them (left some on the clippers - not sure how I didn't notice), and next time I shaved I ended up with some pimples.
