I pat my head repeatedly with one hand and simultaneously rub my belly with the other if I am ever "of two minds" about something. I then go with the winning hand. Cautionary note: This doesn't go over big in job interviews or work evals.

So glad it's not just me!

I find that I'm mindlessly touching or rubbing my head a lot during the day. Or just resting a hand on the back of my head.

It's actually very relaxing.

I find myself rugging the back of my head when I am at a long meeting

However, the "goatee stroke" is more relaxing and fun to do

Nope, you are not alone in this. I find myself rubbing my scalp a lot too, especially during tense moments or when I'm frustrated or exasperated.

I've even come up with a variation, the "facepalm to scalp rub transition" which occurs after I've heard/read/watched something profoundly stupid. (i.e. listening to anything Glenn Beck has to say.)

Sadly though, this happens so often these days that its just become as much of a reflex as blinking...

Mother nature only created so many perfect heads, the rest she covered in hair...

Actually, my hand passes over my dome more often when it's a short buzz than when it's SLY.

I used to compulsively run my fingers through my hair when I was under pressure. Funnily enough that was the same area that thinned out first  ::)

Now I find myself rubbing my scalp instead.. right on that one balding spot rather than the areas that are just thinning!

Now that you mention it, I do rub my head a lot. I guess it's comforting because it feels good. Also, sometimes I tend to have to slake off the oils that would normally be wicked up and captured by hair. And as much as I hate to admit it, being able to rub or scratch my scalp without hair in the way is actually a bonus, even if it's the only one. Thanks for posting this. :)

I do rub my head a lot, especially when driving and stuck in traffic!  When i had long hair I used to habitually curl it round my finger, as do my sister and dad (must be a family trait!!) but now I can't do that!! ;)

Those bald spots, smooth, soft and warm, are where I find my hand reaching to when I'm waking up in the morning, it sort of defines the areas, totally bald, sparse, and the shadow of the rim.

"A facepalm to scalp rub transition" which occurs after I've heard/read/watched something profoundly stupid. (i.e. listening to anything Glenn Beck has to say.)

I rub my head and stroke my beard a lot. But the only time I listened to Glenn Beck, both of my hands were required to grab my stomach as it began to cramp painfully. In fact that seems to happen whenever I hear anything on the Faux Network.
