I have finally decided on a tattoo
« on: June 02, 2009, 06:01:26 PM »
I have finally decided on a tattoo that I want to get. I talked to my brothers about it and we are all going to get our last name tattooed on our backs. They want old english font but I am thinking old west font. As for color should I just get black? I thought about green but I dont think it would show up all that well. Any suggestions?

Old West font would look more original. You could get it done in green, but have it outlined with black.

When you get it done you will have to update with a pic  O0

I never thought of the outline. I am thinking about getting it done in the next month or so.

Agree:  Outline in black then color it in green

With tattoos, unique is always a good idea.  the more unique the better.  The cross on my right arm is a total custom piece.  Not another like it anywhere.  Kinda cool.

Come to think of it, I dont think I have ever seen a tattoo done in old west font, a vast majority are old english. I think I will go in sometime this week and ask some questions and get some prices.

Definetly have it outlined in black... it will make it jump out at you.

Whatever color, try and make it unique. Outlining and shading help.

I'd say do it in black, shadow with gray, and leave to green ink for the next customer O0

None of mine have color.  Just black.  It's just my personal preference.  I've seen some in color that don't look that good when they fade.

I like black with gray shadowing.  I think it looks really good.

That is also an idea, I was talking to a friend about it and they said color fades way too fast.

Not true...... any tattoo will fade with time but there are ways to minimize the fading.
For instance.... after you get done applying that sunblock to your head.... apply some to your tattoos. This will help GREATLY with fading.
Also, go to a good quality shop where they use good quality ink...... the newer inks are made to fade less.

I'm wondering how many color tats those friends of yours actually have...... ;)

No need to believe me.... talk to a good, reputable artist.......

Color or not is just a personal preference. I currently have two tats..... a small piece of flash on one shoulder and then a half sleeve on the other arm. Both are full color and nice and bright.
My third tat is in the works right now.... I've already made the deposit and I'm waiting for my artist to complete the artwork. It will also be full color.

Old west is like the old west font, you know like the one on your computer.

About the fading-would I really have to worry about it that much since it would be on my back and would be covered by a shirt most of the time.
