My name is Jonathan and I have recently decided to shave my head for the first time. The dreaded male pattern balding was bringing me down with all the comments I received about it so I really gave everyone something to talk about, lol. Anywho, just wanted to drop by and say hello.
I'm using the Mach3 Turbo and Nivea sensitive skin shaving gel and it gets close but I want my head to be smoother! Any suggestions? Oh, I shave with the grain and will switch against the grain after my scalp toughens up.

Welcome hoss. Congratulations on making the confident leap to slyness. Check out the various routines in the Head Shaving section for more ideas on how to get that smoothness you want.

Welcome Hoss
New to this myself (on day 6) - re smoother - seems to the quest for holy grail - not saying this is the answer, but on the advice of others here I tried shaving oil yesterday - fantastic results - might be something you want to try (Won't try giving brand names becuase I'm in Canada and the same product quite often has a different name)

When you make the change to against the grain, it will make a world of difference in smoothness. Smart move on waiting until your scalp toughens up. I'm impatient and I waited until day 2 to go against the grain. I guess that I like to jump right into the fire and see if I'll get burned. From what I remember, it burned like hell.

Welcome, Glad your aboard. I too was impatient and went against the grain from day one. A few minor cuts over a few days, but the smooth was worth it.

Welcome Hoss, as the guys said, check the Head Shaving forum on help with getting the best shave to get your dome smooth. Give your dome time to adapt, I just started with going Sly, and some days are better than others. Keep up with it.
Heads up for you, you'll get comments for going Sly for a while, just like they commented on the MPB. I've got one of the owners of the company I work at, making daily comments, yesterday he complained about the glare; but then again, he's always being a smart ass about something.

Hey Hoss!
Welcome aboard, buddy.
The sly guys here have already given you good advice.
The Mach 3 is great and will give the dome a close shave, esp once you are a bit practiced. Also, most of us find that a closer shave on the dome is easier to achieve than on the face.
Keep us informed of your progress.
