Hi everyone,

Just a quick post to say that I am now a proud member of the Sly community.

I went sly on April 2.... I'm almost at the 30-day mark. I like the look. I had a horseshoe flattop for years and let it grow out to a short Ivy League style, then went to a high and tight. The last time I needed a haircut I just buzzed it and kept going shorter and shorter until I was at the point that I might as well shave it off.

I have kept it shaved every day since except for 1 or 2 times where I skipped a day. I like the smooth feeling. I have used the headblade but prefer the Mach III. I normally use the Lab Series line for cleansing and shaving and recently tried the Jack Black products. I think I prefer the Lab Series. I ordered a free sample of the Citizen Smooth shave cream and will give that a try.

I appreciate the forums that you provide and I look forward to joining in on the discussions. I don't have a recent pic yet, but I will post one as soon as I get one.

Hey Andre,

Yes it sounds that way. I loved the horseshoe flat, but my hairline in the front is starting to get thinner and thinner. I probably would still have it if it weren't for that. I do like the sly look and is easier to shave it than worry about keeping the flat sharp. It's funny how when you are a kid or a young man how you always have the same hairstyle. I was like that. Then as I got older, I decided to experiment around. Started with a 'regular' flat, then the barber suggested a H n' T flat. That evolved into a horseshoe flat. I must say it was very difficult to find a barber that knew how to cut one correctly. I had to travel a good 70 miles to a barbershop in Oceanside to get a great one. That drive got old and the barber ended up retiring so I had to learn how to cut it myself. I must say I did a pretty good job...... it took me awhile to cut it cuz I'm a perfectionist. Then I got the itch to try something new and grew it out a went to a fancy (and expensive) men's salon - a pretty basic blah haircut. So I learned how to cut a Princeton (1.5 blade on the back and sides with a 1 inch top). Had that for about a year and then I saw a picture on the net of a H n' T that I liked that matched my hairline so I gave that a try. The next 'haircut' was when I went sly. I'm close to the end of the 30-day commitment and I do like the style. That's not saying that I don't have thoughts of letting it grow out again to do the horseshoe flat. That was my most favorite style. If the front is too thin to have a good flat, I would definitely go sly again.

I hear ya...the shoe looks great on ya...but for real...slick bald is cool brutha...I do love it and lived it for 15 years!
