ICE!
« on: December 14, 2008, 02:50:13 PM »
Im up here in NH - We're currently on day 3 of no power due to our ice storm thursday night. There are 200,000 homes/buildings without power still in our state alone. They are saying some people could be out for up to 2 weeks! Nasty nasty situation up here...Worst Ice storm there's ever been up here...Unprecedented as far as the power company is concerned. In 1998 our house lost power for 6 days...at that point/ice storm only 55,000 people lost power. So we're not exactly looking for the power back anytime soon.

We were able to get a generator about an hour away today. Theres nothing near us, thats for sure. There's a waiting list at our home depot for 1500 generators today. We went near Boston and got one...so we now have hot water, some lights, heat...and, because that room has power, my laptop gets to the internet:)

It's like nothing anyone's ever seen though...trees down across roads, power lines down just hanging everywhere that snapped or whatever from the ice. This is our pennance for being relatively earthquake and hurricane free, I guess!

Yeah, we got hit with that same storm with over an inch of ice. Fortunately, we never lost power here but there are still thoudands of people not far away that are still without power. Just got off the phone with a friend about 5 miles away that is still without power. I wish you luck in getting yours restored. It's bad enough in the summer when you lose it but in the winter it can be brutal and dangerous. Take care and good luck to you !!

I'm a proper Bostonian in exile in North Idaho.  My dad still lives in Worcester County.  I called him and he said that while the rest of the county, and much of the state are without power, he only got rain.  My thoughts and prayers are with those who are still without power.

Here in North Idaho, we're having cold temperatures.  It's currently 1 degree outside, with the love temp expected to go down to -5 tonight.
Attitude is everything!

It is balmy over there, here in SW Montana it is currently -14, the high was -10, and we are supposed to have a low temperature of -12.  After hearing about the ice storms, it makes me feel lucky.

Hope you guys get power back soon there in the north east.

The LOVE temp?  Does that mean that there will be a lot of births 9 months from today?
