MRI
« on: October 27, 2008, 06:09:02 PM »
For the past 12-15 months I've been having on again off again Knee pain. It had went away for a few months now it's back and I went to my doctor about it and they said I need to have an MRI done this friday 31st. They said the symptons I have sound like it could be arthritis or possibly something else, honestly I almost prefer to have a ligament tear in my knee then have arthritis. I mean I'm only 28 years old and I would like to be able to play with my daughter and any other children we may have and a ligament tear can be repaired and be back to new in a few months but arthritis I would have for the rest of my life. I guess I'm just nervous about all of this.

just in case, has anyone had arthroscopic surgery on their knee. what is the tournaround for returning back to work? and the level of pain in the knee post surgery?

Thank you

Jim, I have never had surgery of this nature but I would suggest something for you as it is working great for my wife and I. She has arthuritis in her neck and I have had a level of it in my upper back and knees. A few months ago we started taking a supplement called Guclosamine Chondrotin. While the pain for both of us has not been totally eliminated it has definately helped us both. I am not sure exactly how it works...shes the health "expert" but in addition to having your knee examined which you should do you might want to incorporate this. I was just curious if you have a job where you do alot of bending, crawling, etc.

Hey Jim, I have never had it but my wife has had 2 on her knees and one on her rotator cuff.

She had tears in her ACL with her knees.

She was out of work a few weeks with the shoulder but both times with her knees she was only out of work 3 days.

She said the pain she experienced with the knees was minor compared to the shoulder pain.

Hope this helps somewhat....good luck.... O0

Jim, I had an arthroscopy on my left knee over 12 years ago and it was a piece of cake.  Was up and back at work the next day.  Had a brace and crutches but discarded those in a week or so.   Good luck.
