My wife was downright ANGRY when I first shaved my head more than two years ago, so I let it grow back.  After a while, though, I couldn't stand it.  I kept getting my hair buzzed shorter and shorter until six months ago, when I took the razor to the dome again.  I've been sly ever since.  My wife tolerates the look now.  I'd like nothing more than for her to give my noggin a shave like Warhawk's wife does.  Don't think that's going to happen anytime soon, but at least she hasn't made a negative comment in months.  I think she might actually respect my decision to take a stand and stick with it.

Like you, I get the same reactions; my wife and daughter both like when I have the short stubbled look. I try to compromise, so I just did a grow out for a month.
It was ok, but boy did I miss shaving. Just shaved it back down on Tuesday, oh, what a feeling, lol.

So compromise it is. I am going back to what I used to do, a couple days on, a couple off. So both parties are happy.
