You gotta love Anderson Silva and BJ Penn, string Jiu Jitsu, but awesome overall MMA.

Big MMA fan here and have been for a long time!

Fave fighter ever: Don "The Predator" Frye.
Fave fighter competing in a major venue: Fedor.
Big fan of Dan "Hendo" Henderson, because we wrestled on the same high school team (although I graduated before he attended, but his older brother Tom was a Soph when I was a Senior.)
and Joe "Daddy" Stevenson because he's also from my old hometown.
Also, have a lot of respect for Randy Couture, for being a gentleman - no trash talk from him ... same goes for Fedor.

The Gracies and Machados are AWESOME....
Although they might not be considered MMA.....they contributed one of the most effective and devastating aspects of MMA training.

Love the MMA. My favorite fighter is probably GSP. Whatever your strong suit is he can beat you at it...
and he is sly !

So here's a question....
Which background seems to be winning most in MMA?
Sure, it's "Mixed" Martial Arts, so understanding and adopting multiple styles works, but are the wrestlers, jiu jitsu, Muay Thai, boxers, karate usually more successful in MMA??

I think this is a bit of a loaded question, as I believe that "MMA" has become its very own hybrid style of martial art, geared toward success in the octagon. But if I had to choose one of the list above, I'd give a slight nod to Muay Thai. The reason? Most MMA fighters are trying to give the fans an exciting fight, which means they are standing and striking/kicking/elbowing/kneeing, as opposed to the bjj "chess matches" that we were treated to at some of the early UFC's. I think Muay Thai has the best blend of Strikes and so on, with a little grappling and clinch fighting.

I think Krav Maga is seriously overlooked by these dudes
