music at work

Whats up guys. Anybody listen to music at work?
I've been using Pandora a lot at work lately, and I love it. It's also good for parties if you don't have a huge music collection. Just connect your computer to some nice speakers, and you have yourself a digital dj. For those not familiar with pandora (
www.pandora.com
) - it's a web-based radio catered to your music preference. Click 'create station', type in an artist or song, and it plays songs with similar instrumentation, tonality, tempo, etc.. When you get tired of listening to your Yanni station, type in Slipknot.
So how do you listen to music at work or at home?

Pandora kicks ass. Right now I'm listening to my iphone plugged into my work PC. Sometimes I'll listen to Pandora or bands on Myspace. Can't wait to pick up a 120 GB iPod class for use in my car and at work!

I actually found out about Pandora thru SBG (thanks guys).
I listen it it every once in a while.
When I'm working, I'll usually have some type of "modern" jazz (Rippingtons, Kilauea) or piano (George Winston) going.

I'm listen to Pandora at work (and home) as well as Rhapsody. Love both. I also have been listening to Pandora lately through my iPhone plugged into my car's sound system while driving.

I have sirius and usually record about 6 hours of music onto my Stiletto2 (a flash based MP3/Sirius player) from my favorite station and play it throughout the next work day. I usually listen to the hard stuff...Disturbed, Godsmack, etc. Its pretty low and generally just background music.

Talk Radio ALL DAY LONG. Occasionally I'll do Pandora or Jack FM on the web. For those of you who don't know, Jack FM is like a Wal-Mart radio station -- no DJ's and the same music on stations in major markets across the country. The good thing about it is that there is a huge variety of music to please many tastes.

I was just reading today that Pandora is on the verge of financial collapse because they have to pay out 70% of their revenues in royalties. There's a similar service I just started using called Last FM. It actually tracks stats from what you listen to in iTunes or Windows Media Player and lets you see what other users are listening to. You can listen to selections from other people's libraries; it's a neat way to discover new music that you might not otherwise hear:

Dear Pandora Visitor,
We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative.

Check them out:

One note: You will NEVER hear a jimmy Buffett song on this station.

I'm a big fan of Pandora, but don't listen while at work. I have trouble concentrating while listening to music and I know others concentrate better with background music.
Anyway, Pandora is awesome !!

We are pretty much locked down. iPods and mp3 players have only been legally allowed onsite for just about 2 weeks. CDs must be original, no mp3 in the CD drives. No streaming, no radios.
