Packing/Moving Hell ...

We're selling our house 8/20 and moving into the Marriot for 1+ months, which we're not looking forward to. At this point, we're packing around the clock and it seems like we've been at it forever. Every time we move we always say we'll not accummulate junk like we did before, but then do it again.
We're at each others throats now too, with all of the pressures of moving getting to us all. While we've moved several times before, never moved into temporary housing between houses. This is going to suck ...
I needed to vent, so thanks for listening ...

I was there with a one year old and an extremely hot humid cali summer month...horrible!
Hang tough and wipe that sweat off that shiny bald head

Hang in there Andrew. It's a pain but will eventually be worth it. Kow what you mean about the endless packing though. If I ever have to move again, whoever buys the house gets EVERY FREAKIN THING in it.

Yeah...when we moved in 2006....we splurged and hired movers...

Thanks guys... We're having movers come and they'll take our stuff into their storage facility. But, we rented a storage space today for fragile things and stuff we'll want access to while in temporary housing.
It wouldn't be so bad if we were going directly into the house we're buying (trying to). This guy doesn't get how bad the market is, and is actually jerking me around even when I'm paying him close the asking price. If we didn't love the house we wouldn't put up with him. He's already missed one closing date (8/20) and his next deadline is 9/19. I want him to think that I'll go elsewhere if he misses that, but we'll likely keep waiting. I know it sounds crazy but his house just meets are needs in so many ways.
Back to the packing ....

Yeah, if you seem to eager, he thinks he has ya over a barrel. Play it cool like you plan and hopefully all will go well.

So far, I've tried to play it cool, making comments about other houses I'm interested in. Who knows, when I'm sitting in the Marriot with my cash in the bank, another house may come on the market that we like. Oddly enough, in our area of Connecticut, there is very little available in our price range, and we pretty much dislike all of them except for this one.

We moved out of our house today and are selling tomorrow. We moved into the Residence Inn and it's ok, I guess. We have a 1 bedroom suite but it's really small. After going through 5 weeks of packing it was nice to relax in the pool and hot tub.
We just really want to buy the house we have a deposit on, but the deal is shakier than ever. The flakey owner won't leave until he finds a house to buy and he's rejected all 30+ houses he's looked at. If we don't get some enouraging feedback from him within the next few days, we're going to start making appointments to look at others houses ....

I say screw him. WHen it comes time for him to buy another house...it will be hell when he cant find a buyer for his present one. During this day in age....its tough to sell a house. Good luck with that. Like my grandmother always said....If it doesnt happen, it wasnt meant to be. Someone upstairs is watching over you bro....it will work out.

That's all my wife and I keep saying - "screw him ...". This dope has had his house on the market for 1 year (on and off) and had 3 deals fall apart (suprise surprise ...) If we didn't love his house so much, we'd have blown him off long ago ...

Update: We're still living in the Marriot and it's been over 3 weeks. My daughter and the cat love it here, but my wife and I have had enough. We swim/hot tub every night and the breakfast is pretty good, but the dinners suck and our 1-bedroom suite is very small.
Our encouraging news is that our flaky seller actually found a house to buy 3 weeks before our contract expired. He told me last night that if he'd not found this house, he'd have stayed until he found one, which would have resulted in our terminating the contract with nothing else on the market we're interested in. (xmas at the marriot)
He's attempting to do a 3-week closing and it's supposed to happen 9/19 (in 9 days). Waiting for him to get mortgage approval (by Friday), which will make me believe it's really going to happen. I'm on my 8th house and I've never had such a rediculous transaction.
Crossing our fingers ....
