See my member name and automatically assume I'm black?

I know it's a funny question, but people will write me and ask if I'm black? I never even realized people would make the assumption, although it makes perfect sense with my member name.
Just to clear things up, I'm actually Indian. Black James Rackham was my nickname on a hockey team I play for, we're the Buccaneers, and Black James goes with the whole Pirate thing for the team. I'm not some pirate wannabe either

Well that's all, just wanted to clear the air if there was any confusion
Nope, never thought about it really.
Does it matter?
Not to me, but it does to some people...you'd actually be surprised
I didn't think you were black because of your screen name, but I did think you were black when you posted your picture a while back. Not that I spent a great deal of time looking at it, but perhaps the screen name did put the idea in my head. It sounds crazy, but you can't always tell from photographs, especially when it's a guy with a shaved head. Someone else who used to post here and disappeared a while back -- Mr. Clean -- was black and I never realized it until he mentioned it, even though he'd had his picture posted all along.
Anyway, it doesn't really make any difference, does it?
Never dawned on me one way er 'nother....

If it matters to them maybe they're not worth bothering with.
Just my opinion.

Yeah people can never really guess that I'm Indian...I usually get Dominican or Hispanic before I get Indian.
But yeah, doesn't really make a difference to me

I'm not black, either -- just in case you were wondering.
No. Never thought about it. Some folks assume since part of my name is hammerdrill I am or was in construction. Nope...but used one often in treating homes for termtites for years..hence the name.

Ok, in the English language Indian covers a helluva lot of ground. Are you American Indian (such as my paternal grandmother who was Apache), Indian from India, or Indian as in a native of some other land?
You brought it up and aroused my curiosity.
Sorry, I'm a language geek.
okay.. In all truth and honesty, I did think maybe that the Black meant that perhaps you were, but it didn't bother me any.. I just thought it was a great name. I'm all for pirates

and it is a pretty piratical name! (if that's a word!)
I can't understand why people would ask you if you were though.. that seems a little weird - why would they do that?!! and what's more.. who?!!
Whatever James, black, blue, green, peach, you're still a slybaldguy with a freakin' cool name!

No problem at all, Trucker. I'm Indian from India. I'm glad you asked, a lot of times when I tell people I'm Indian, they'll ask, "oh what tribe are you from?"

Seems a bit weird to me too.
