Dial-up vs. broadband
« on: July 05, 2008, 07:27:52 PM »
Here's an interesting article from Time that says 35% of people who subscribe to dial-up internet services do so because they don't want to pay the higher fees for broadband -- and that another 19% wouldn't switch to broadband under any circumstances.  I can't imagine why anyone would favor dial-up, aside from the cost difference.  I didn't think there were too many dial-up users left, to be honest.  Any of you sly guys out there still using dial-up, and if so do you have any plans to upgrade to broadband eventually?

It's what they used to connect to the internet in prehistoric times.  I'm pretty sure that's how the Flintstones got online.   :*))

Now I feel really old. Thanks for that.

I remember paying more for dial up than I am now paying for DSL.

Oh, and with today's fuel prices horse and buggy isn't looking so bad.

Cannot imagine going back to dial up

A couple of months ago my internet service went out and I had to use dial-up to get online. It took forever and I couldn't believe that this was once my usual way of getting online.  It's easy to get spoiled.

As much time as my 16 year old spends on MySpace she would probably have a nervous breakdown if we went back to dial up!

Maybe if she steps out of line, you can threaten her with that.   ;D  At her age, she can probably barely remember dial-up.
