(except maybe Bastille Day) as an excuse to drink and eat to excess.
Red
Ahh, come on Red...by July 14th I've had 10 days to recover from the 4th and I'm ready to go again.
Formez vos bataillons
Marchons, marchons
Qu'un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons
So did you also celebrate June 24th? Le St. Jean is the Quebec celebration day... Those silly Quebequers have to do things different and on their own... Oh wait, I'm from Quebec!
My French is awful but I got,
"Let us go children of the Fatherland the day of glory arrived!"
And if that give's me a reson to celebrate then I'll mark July 24th on my cadendar.
I work til 7, then when I get home we are having a big bonfire, fireworks and a BBQ party, its tradition, we already have all the wood and brush for the bon fire, its about 10' high and about 20' across so far. We are butchering a small hog and a steer as well as some chickens, we will have many people. Last year we had about 40 or so people over, friends bring their friends, there are always people we dont know but we get to know.
I'll be spending it with family and friends in the Copper Country of the Upper penninsula of Michigan on the shores of Lake Superior. The Keweenaw Penninsula is where God spends his summers:

Paul, you just brought me back to my childhood. Seeing Pictured Rocks in Munising, MI, Tahquamenon Falls State Park in Paradise, MI and the Ghost Towns of the Keweenaw Penninsula, the home of the the Chippewas.
Glad it brought you some happy memories. Just got back from Munising about an hour ago.

Whoah ! That sounds cool. Forgive me if you've posted this elsewhere, but where do you live?
Wining & Dining Mrs. Buuckkweet, do a few small projects on the house, relax!!!!!!!!!
working around the house; maybe I'll get in 9 holes locally.
Ok, maybe I haven't quite grown up yet but a friend and I are having a blowout at his place.
Taking the DJ/KJ equipment, extra pair of SP3's, the acoustic and electric guitar

..he has the drum set, and we just dropped $700 bucks on MEGA-fireworks,and they gave us $175 bucks of free stuff!!! We will be waking the dead, seeing he is next to a cemetary, with around 30 or 40 of friends/strangers.
I am also bringing my special lounge chair so I can be comfortable when I wake up in the yard Saturday morning with a massive hangover, unless I end up in a tent asking "who are you again?"
Yep, time to embarass the kid again
Thursday the 3rd I'm taking my son to Congressional in DC for Tiger Woods golf Tournament. Friday the 4th I'm golfing at one of my favorite courses in the AM and going to a friends house for a pool party in the afternoon. Not sure about tthe rest of the weekend but I think my wife has something up her sleeve for Saturday.....
