It doesn't take guts, just a razor.
Go for it. Just shave it off. Get that weight off your head & shoulders.

I was really freaked out when I showed up at work with a slick mellon because I'm in front of the public every day. But I just realized that these people don't know me and could care less
REALLY whether I have hair or not. I started experiencing MPB when I hit 30. And I didn't take the plunge until I was 46. But now that I've done it I wouldn't have it any other way.
no guts necessary...
Stop spending the money on the rug and free yourself. You will be amazed.
Here's a before pic.

It was even worse in the back.
Adn btw-I wish I had been bald and over with it since I started thinning at 21.
Me too!!!

I've been bald on top since age 24. At age 35 I was laid off and bought a hair piece. Believe it or not it looks real. I will be 44 in July and I'm sick of dealing with the hair pieces. I go through about 4 of them per year. My hair on the sides is getting grayer and my ego is lowering so I do not feel it's such a big deal now to go bald. However I'm kind of wussing about doing it because of work. I have hair now and one day I just show up totally shave except for my goatee. Has anyone out there wore a hairpiece and how did you explain just going bald. I'm sure at first there would be some talk but after a month or so myself and others would get use to it.

When I showed up at my new place of work (new, as in, < 1yr), I had nothing but good comments. One feller really liked it, one gave me the old "ahh! I can't see from the glare" routine (but we shoot the poop all the time so that's cool), another mentioned he was considering it (he's got the lunatic fringe going on now... he could stand to be sly), one girl rubbed the dome

, and a couple others (young'uns) asked what prompted me to shave.
Nothing negative, nothing untoward, no weird looks, etc. Go for it, I says!

Shaving your head is scary!! This is what I did, I buzzed my head with clippers #3, then #2, then #1 (all in one session) and then I used a razor. Baby steps made the shock value less for me.

Hey dog20,
It's always good affirmation to post up some after pics for the Bald Bros to give you their feedback.
'Course, we always say you look better Sly. What else would we say.

Umm I got hair at the moment because I don't want to deal with the negative comments from my family members. But I was bald almost 2 years ago lol. I'm thinking about getting the courage to shave it all off again. Well, its not like I'm afraid too... its just that I don't want to deal with the family bugging me about it again.

I know, I know.. I don't like the way my hair looks now. I should shave it all off now, but I don't have a razor. Is the new fusion any good? Whats it called... the black one? Phantom?
Err the razor with the trimmer on the bottom. Thats the one I'm talking about.

Yo, you can't let other people dictate how you live your life.
I try to live by these words....
"You see, you can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself."

I know you're right. Is that you in your avatar? If it is, you look like someone famous. I just don't remember his name, someone from a boy band? lol.

Hey dog I think you need a new pair of glasses,
'cause I was never in a boy band.
You're the third person that's confused me with another bald dude.
DJ_Bald said I'm some famous fighter and Dan-O-Mite said I'm this guy David something. I know to the untrained eye that us baldies all look alike, but I'm no one famous.
I'm just an ordinary citizen with an extraordinary haircut.
Dog, have you ever heard of the phrase, "No guts, no glory."
You too can have a glorious bald head. It's just one shave away.
Have the guts to headshave and you too will have the glory.

You know, you are right, Hookem. The resemblance is uncanny. Funny how I never noticed it in any of BJ's previous avatar photos.
