Any SLY coaches here?
« on: May 23, 2008, 01:25:30 AM »
I'm currently a soccer coach. This is my first experience coaching the sport. I'm no stranger to coaching. I coach ice hockey during the fall/winter and tennis during the summer months.

About my soccer team, they're little guys, 7 and 8 year olds. Lots of fun. We're big on the rules, the fundamentals and espeically good sportmanship. It's been a frustrating season. Not because of the play, our record so far (5-2)....
The weather has been the problem. I certainly can empathesize with our bruthas form the UK. You know the saying,

"It rains in London, it rains in Portland"... the weather here is very similar to the UK. We've been rained out three time this season.  :'(

Here's a photo of me, the other coaches and some of my team.
Awesome uniforms, ey?  :-\

Great pic Eric.  You look a little frustrated in that picture.  My daughter played soccer one year, but after that, she lost all interest.  It is kind of cute watching these little 5 year olds running around.

I coach my daughters' soccer team. Even though several of the girls could still play u10, the kids (and parents) all wanted to stay together for the upcoming season. So, we're all moving up to u12. Although having more time to relax is alway good, I love those Saturdays. Great girls, great parents. Plus, one of my best friends is my assistant coach.

I also assist with a local youth golf program. The head teacher used to play on the LPGA tour for a couple of years and she's great with the kids.

I coach little league baseball and basketball for my son.  I previously coached my daughter's fast pitch softball and basketball teams.

I even referee on the high school level for basketball and football.

No No No...

Box lacrosse is usually played in arenas, on ice just like hockey.....

Lacrosse players are just smart enough to wait until someone covers that slippery, cold, hard stuff with astroturf before they play.

I help coach my kids little league tee-ball team. The kids will be in two separate divisions next year, so it will be tough.
