Cool~ Thanks for the tips/welcomes guys. I wouldn't have made this leap if it weren't for ya'll. Saving the world, 1 bald man at a time.
Anyone else feel like a sissy before their first shave? I'm afraid it'll look like I took a cheese grater to my head when I'm done. (sorry for the visual)
Last question: I got my head shaved with a #1 turns out~ should I go to a barber to get it shorter before my first razor run?

Most times I would say just do it yourself...but since you seem to need sometime to get used to it, why not go to a barber and ask him to buzz you as close to bald as possible...or find a barber to shave it clean...they are out there and some do a great job...
and cheese grater....nah, take your time and for most dudes shaving your head is a much cleaner process than shaving your face, it's usually a lot less rough..
Good luck dude, you'll love it once your completely bald!

Think I have my supplies picked out. Checked out some local retailers~ nobody has Headshed so I'm gonna try St. Ives. And can't find Headlube~ any tried and tested competitors for post-shaving?

I think everybody worries about that. It never actually happens, though, unless you use a cheap disposable razor or try to take the blade to your scalp without buzzing the hair off first. Follow the proper protocol and you'll be just fine.

Yes, the shave will go much easier if you get your hair buzzed as close to the skin as possible. Tell the barber to take it down to #000 or #0000. Once that is done, you'll pretty much be bald and it's jut a matter of removing a little stubble to achieve a smooth dome.

Welcome to the neighborhood brother.
sounds like your on your way, if you can't find headslick, you can try King of Shaves gel or the edge gels aren't to bad. Just go slow your first time and you'll be fine.

I did it!!!
Well, actually a barber did. I went to a guy that my old man goes to, since I needed a closer buzz before the shave. I said: "how close can you get it?" "Pretty close. You know, I could shave it if you want." That was the moment of truth. "Do it!" Not bad. He got a few gashes on me, and left a lot of scrub/fuzz. But you had to look close to see it. And hey~ who knows how I would have done my first run. Better to let a semi-experienced guy break in my skin to the razor.
Holy crazy! I've gotta admit: about 1 out of every 2 thoughts in my head for the past 6-7 years has been stress for my 'balding head.' 7 years of fighting it! I'm sure many of you guys know the pain I speak of. Really ironic, how my greatest fear and it's solution turned out to be one and the same: no hair!
I've never felt so alive and so free! I can't believe the looks I'm getting from women now

<---- just like that.
Thanks again guys for all ur support. It was all of your confidence and brotherhood that sold me.
I'll post the before and after pics in a few days when things settle in.
