I've seen the graphics of some of the other systems and they're pretty impressive. But I don't see us investing any $ in a new system anytime soon.
As fun as the Wii is, our kids' favorite activities are sports (soccer, softball for Nicole, baseball for Alex, tae kwon do, hoops, & golf). In fact, Alex is trying out for the regional select soccer team this week (tryouts are over two weekends). Although he's only 7 1/2, the youngest division is u9. Most of the coaches that have played against him have told The Lovely Mrs. Schro & I that he needs to be playing against tougher competition. I'll keep everyone posted.
It was a "feel good" moment when we discussed select tryouts with Nicole. Although she has the skills to tryout, she is not. There's a much greater time commitment with select level. She is also involved in theater and music. We explained to her that there's only a finite number of hours in the day (and $$ in daddy's wallet). She understood that and made the choice to not tryout. Plus she said, "If I make select team, that means you won't be my coach. I'd rather stay with The Dream Team (our team name) and have you as my coach." That made my day.

Schro, You certainly are the epitome of a proud parent. I know the sun rises on sets on your kids and The Lovely Mrs. Schro.

Tyler whatever you do, steer clear of JVC. We have had our HD LCD TV for a little over 2 years and the quality has degraded considerably already.

I'm hoping to get a PS3 and the Planet Earth series on BR for my birthday in a couple of weeks.
I've got a Sony 60" 1080p Widescreen Rear Projection that absolutely kills.

I have really been on the fence with this as I have a PS2 that I have played to death. I want a new system but here is my dilemma...
1 - Xbox 360 has more games right now.
2 - PS3 has alot of "plans" but I have been burned on that line before... yeah, remember Colecovision?
3 - A Wii is WAY more social and good times without having to have the dexterity of one of those Mortal Combat champs that used to hang out at 7-11 so my wife and less geeky friends can play too.
4 - My gaming time on the HD LCD will not be a ton as that TV is where movies are watched and such.
On the other hand -
1- Madden in 1080p
2 - SOCOM
3 - 1080P gaming, a bag of chips and Heineken for hours
4 - Blu-Ray (movies are another hobby of mine)
Why must I be faces with such difficult decisions... I feel like Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi

I was at Best Buy on Saturday and researching this same topic. The kid I spoke with said Wii is better for entertainment gaming for more than one person. He said if you're buying a system for yourself to buy a PS3.
I'm new to the whole thing, and really confused. It would be the first system I've owned since an old school Nintendo. I think the deciding factor will be availability. I can walk into any store and buy an XBox or PS3, where Wii's are never in stock.
