Thanks!  Same at you!  I told my wife that I was getting a bike this Spring so I wouldn't miss another year of riding, and this great deal came out of nowhere and I HAD to buy the bike!  C#)P Of course I HAD to get the right boots to go with the bike too!   :@`
I may try a pair of ropers some time, (when I get older). ;)

I used to wear those harness boots or "engineer boots" as some call them. They were nice but I got a pair of Doc Martains and they were never worn again...

Is there a certain brand of ropers you guys buy? I am considering getting a pair but this is very foreign territory for me. I usually wear lace up boots like these

Actually, harness and engineer boots are distinct styles:

Marz, I own a pair of Doc's, and, the way these guys talk about ropers, I feel the same way about my Docs.  It's like walking on air.  So damn comfortable.

I wear boots practically everyday.  Being a Texan it just comes natural, may have slid into a pair in the delivery room for all I know.  Majored in Agriculture, rode bulls a few times, ride horses frequently, and talk Texas B.S. all day long.  Being an AG major I used to claim to be able to "Look up a Bulls Ass and tell ya' the price of Butter!  Have since gone on to real estate appraising so predicting the price of butter is no longer in my repratoir.

You know we have a bunch of hicks on here (self included) if we can drum up 4 pages of comments about cowboy boots...lol!

Hey Russ! Nice to see another Texan...sorry I havent posted anything in awhile.

I wear boots with a western heel daily.  I wear the Justin uniform boot with my police uniform. Its all black, has a western heel with spur ledge and a smooth toe(no Stiching design) so it looks military. It popular with DPS(the Texas Highway Patrol), many of the sheriffs deputies.  My dept will not allow me to wear black cowboy boots with stiching on the toe.  Its gotta be smooth.

off duty, its cowboy boots all the way.Got different types to work in, dress etc.  The only non cowboy boot I wear are my military ones and only dress shoes are my military low quarters.

Believe it or not, after all these years I have never worn Ropers.  Some of our officers wear them with their uniforms, they have a smooth toe.

Never rode bulls Russ but use to raise cattle.

If you are talking about these:

I have a pair, and they are great boots.

Yeah, I love my Docs, thats for sure but the quality is not what it used to be. They were bought some time ago by macys or something and they just are not as nice as they were back in the old Brit days.

I have had good and bad luck with them recently, you just have to try them on.

Ironically, when in college I hauled hey to put my self thru school.  I wore tennis shoes instead of boots.  Couldn't find any boots back in the 70's that were comfortable enough to jump around from ground to flat bed.  Then my Mom made me some chaps from old blue jeans reversed with front of leg cut out and then worn backwards.  Next thing ya' know all the hard core ag. scholarship cowboys, a.k.a. "The Farm Boys", were wearing TShoes and blue jean chaps.  I wear Justin Lace up leathers with a rugged rubber heal.  They're actually seconds bought at the Justin Factory Outlet in Justin, TX +/- 55 miles from home.  Great deals there and in Nacona, TX (Nacona Boots) about 75 miles.  Don't wear riding heels as much, for lack of horses and time, but have had a pore of Full Quill Ostrich for 29 years and, until my arches starting flattening out they were the absolute most comfortable boots I've ever worn.

You guys wearing the uniforms in these photos, and sorry I not just yet on a first name basis, stay safe.  I applaud you and respect you a great deal.  My freedoms are much safer, but most importantly I feel my family is much safer with you guys taking care of busilness.  I do appreciate what you do!

I got a pair of Doc's, which I wear a lot - yeah, they are really comfortable and give good support (I have an iffy ankle) - but I'd love some of those ropers everyone keeps talking about, and the harness boots too - if I knew where to get them from in the UK or on the web 8)

I did have some cowboy boots once, but always found them uncomfortable to walk in for too long.  Mainly used them on stage in 'Oklahoma!' and other western-type shows. :)

Rob, some of the best boots in the world are Ropers
