Tyler, fantastic article!  Well put.  Now, lets put another dynamic into this formula for Scott; it might add a couple of "needed" pages (I'v always  hated having to write to a specific minimum), and that is- others. 
Once you get over the self part, the dynamics of others can be huge.  I started with the MPB a few years ago and made the decision to go sly.  My wife wasn't in agreement.  I did all the, try it for a week or two, and even sent her articles somewhat like yours.  She rejected it all and said if I didn't grow back some hair, she would divorce me, and it wasn't an idle threat.  She believes in her heart of hearts that there is something wrong with me being sly.  She says that basically every other man in the world looks OK shaved except me.  This has been a stumbling block ever since.
Now that the MPB has advanced, I have been keeping what's left down to a buzz (closer than a #1) and she doesn't like it, puts up with it, and it is still a sore subject years later, and I'm starting to grey.
Ironically I shave a small portion on top and I look basically bald from the front, and most people think of me as bald, but not really sly.

Thats cool Scottie too hottie..lol....yes keep us posted on how your paper turns out.  I would be interested in reading it. 

DAT Boy.....sorry you do not have the support of your wife.  Seems like as time went on she would have grown more accustom to it...but apparently not.  It just strikes me how people base things on appearance....Like my wife...I told her...well you love me for who I am ..right...not what I look like....and she proudly said Yes...but she still wishes I would grow it back..

Thanks for the reply.  Well, just to push the envelope, I went sly again- for the 2nd time this month.  I shaved for a few days earlier this month.  At the end of supper, my wife finally commented and said that my hair looked like cr@p and is thinking about looking for a boyfriend.  I pointed to our dogs and said she had two already.    I'm not sure where this sly thing will go.  Sooner or later she will tell me to grow it back (all 1/4")!   
Ironically, I get compliments at work and elsewhere.  A neighbor had stopped by this evening, and she silently said that she liked it, when my wife wasn't looking.  I'm sure that all the women that know my wife, knows where she stands on this issue and many others.

Dat Boy: It's a "wife" thing.  Mine has said, at various times w/ and w/o drinks, "You've lost your dignity."  That's a hoot, as if I had some.  Then last night a new one, she had been to the beauty parlor for a cut & dye job--she's been grey since high school, "You could have it dyed, lots of guys go to my beautician!"  Dear Lord, at least she admits that there isn't perfection lurking in my scalp any more.  She also didn't like the buzz that I did for a month, but to hear her now, those were glorious days.  My plan is to wait until about 10 months, then start a little grow out (if I can get past the stubble and not shave!) to see her response.  In any event it will be off before it gets to a number 2 buzz, she'll have a chance to get on the train, but if she doesn't it's leaving the station anyway.  She doesn't have to deal w/ the MPB, I do--and I'm doing what I want.
