Headblade?

I keep seeing people on here posting about how much they love their headblades.  What makes them better than a normal manual blade?  Is it easier to use on the head?  Does it give you a closer shave?  Or is it all just a matter of personal preference?

It seems to be pretty much a personal preference  thing Mr.Blonde.  I like the HeadBlade for ease and the closeness of the shave but also follow up with Mach 3 for touchups.  Some guys have tried it and don't get the same results.  The only thing to suggest is that if you do go with it you need to stick with it for a while before you give it up.

First off, welcome Mr. Blonde. The main reason I like the HeadBlade is that the blade faces "outward", as opposed to "inward" with your typical face razor. So, to shave your head, you're essentially pushing the blade across your head, like a comb (seems like a more natural motion for the head shave). As long as you keep the plastic nub (Classic) or wheels (Sport) in contact with your noggin', the blade is set at the optimum angle. It does take a little getting used to, but I think it's an awesome razor.

the headblade is awesome. Though I'm only going on 4 days using it. I tried a regular razor but cut myself to easily. Tried an electric but didn't really get close enough. The headblade is great. It's real simple to use and does a great job. A little tricky around the sides and ears but I'm sure with practice it'll get better, or do what Paul said and use a razor for the touch-ups

Once you get used to the Headblade, it just seems easier to shave because you take long strokes all the way from front to back without lifting your blade up.  It also proves to be a very quick shave to me.  Some people take to it with ease (me), while others take a little while to get used to it.  Considering the cost of the Fusion or Mach III blades, it's worth a try.  The cost is minimal to buy the HB, and the replacement blades are much cheaper than the Fusion/Mach III.

I too have a Mach 3 and I prefer the headblade.  It's a lot faster to use especially from from to back on the top.  If used properly it doesn't allow you to apply too much pressure on the blade reducing cuts, nicks, and razor burn.  I too  tried touching up with my Mach3 especially over the ears.  For some reason I went over a spot against the grain with the mach3 and I wouldn't get it as close as the headblade.  Now I just spend the extra time using the headblade only.  For $15 for the sport model it's well worth giving it a try.
