I've communicated with many men who work in corporate workplaces who eventually shaved, and not one has had any negative repercussions as a result of it. There's always the possibility that someone in your workplace will be unreasonable. In my experience, though, that's unlikely. As long as you maintain your look, it's a very professional hairstyle. It's smooth and clean, which is about all one can ask of a hairstyle in a professional environment. As for looking professional...what looks cleaner and more professional than a shiny bald head and a business suit! 

I remember my first 'bald day' to the office. Because I was somewhat apprehensive about my appearance, I used it as an excuse to upgrade my wardrobe and took the extra step to make sure that I looked well groomed. I also found that because I loved the way my bald head looked, it affected my overall bearing. I walked taller, had better posture, smiled more, and took genuine pride in my appearance. 

I had more problems with my long hair than I do now.  As an x-ray tech, I had to keep it pulled back in a ponytail all the time.  Anyway, the sly look goes with anything.  I get more compliments when I am dressed up actually, like going to church or if I am meeting with a client.

I am an IT Director in a pretty large law firm, and I had hair one day, and was bald the next.  There was absolutely no difference in how people perceive me.  I think it all comes down to how you carry yourself. I you do so in a professional manner, it doesn't matter.

And the sly look does look great when dressed up with a suit and tie.
