I grew up with real trees in my house. Our house had 12' ceilings so finding a tree big enough was always fun. I remember it being an all day ordeal to get the tree in, up and decorated. There was no shortage to "creative English" on my Dad's part when it came to adjusting the stand or fashioning a homemade stand.
Fast forward 12 years.....
We have a artificial, pre-lit try in our house. It is so easy to set up and plug in. The plus to our tree is that it is SO bright that you can't stare at it long enough to see that it is an impostor.

That being said though, if we take the time to fluff it well and decorate it, it is hard to tell that it is a fake.
Right now, our tree is naked from about the 3' foot mark down. That is my two year old's current reach level.

I hear ya on the tree and rugrats! We already had some pulled and smashed...
little dudes are so funny!
BTW...artificial, but love real....saving money these days!
Later we may do real here and there...till then we're happy with el fakeo!

Growing up we had artificial. We've had real for the past four years, but in January we found a pre-lit three piece tree on sale. I'm looking forward to putting it up in a few days.

Real tree, a frazer fir. We've bought them from the same guy for over 7 years. He leaves for North Carolina Monday before Thanksgiving, and the trees arrive on Saturday after T-Day, FRESH, occasionally with a bit of snow still in the branches and he sells, delivers & sets up in your stand. House full of the wonderful smell. Ornaments are an eclectic collection from the kid's handiwork from elementary school days to ornaments collected all over the States and even into Europe with multi-colored lights. Issue--our Doberman likes to nip at the bottom branches, so we "fence" the room off, unless we're there.

Artificial for the Herrons.
Growing up, we had a shiny aluminum tree. The spot light had a plastic wheel that rotated to make it blue, red and green. What a trip!! No telling what that thing would be worth now.

Real tree. Love the smell.
Boy Scouts have a recycling program in our area....which helps me reduce my carbon footprint without having to buy a carbon offset to rid me of my guilt (sarcasm intended).

Love the smell of a real tree.....grew up with real trees every year.
But alas...we have opted for the artificial that we've used for the last 5 or 6 years.

I grew up going to the woods to cut down our own Christmas tree and love the real ones. Though, it's not a 30 minute drive like it used to be, so we're going with artificial now.

We bought our first pre-lit tree this year. We usually go with the real deal, but we got tired of all the clean up. We got a 9ft. GE "slim cut" they call it. Here is a pic........

AMEN BROTHER!!!
I grew up with an artificial tree that was my grandparents tree, it was old then now its ancient, but my mom still makes it look good when I go visit her.
I don't think the hotels will let me bring in a tree of any kind so I'm going with out.

I grew up with artificial. Even had one of those funny lookin silver ones when I was real small. I have had an atificial tree ever since, also. It is just easier and I think it looks better with less upkeep
