Something Unique about your hometown
« on: November 20, 2007, 08:55:37 PM »
Hey all, I was just wondering, what is unique about your home town?  I just found out an interesting fact about my home town of Washington IN.  The very first clothes hanger in the world was made here in my home town.  I thought that was interesting because before I thought about it..it seems like clothes hangers were always around....but...I guess we are the first ones to make them.  So whats unique about your town?

During the War Between the States, an all-female militia (The Nancy Harts) defended the town from Union Troops and prevented them from burning it.

Argh! It's cold in Hamburg. This morning a made a bike tour, my nose became as red as Rudolph's.

BTW: Hamburg is the unique town with a "Swan-Department" in its city-administration.

My current home is famous for the cow which stands at the main intersection of our town.  Harvard is famous for one of the oldest festivals in Illinois, Harvard Milk Days.

I grew up in Oakland - known for its high murder rate and gang activity.

I also grew up in Livermore (as the aforementioned is not the best place to raise a teenage boy) - known for its National Labratory

I now live in Edmonds, WA - right on the Puget Sound and has a ton of festivals throughout the year.

Wilmington, Delaware - The birthplace of Valerie Bertinelli, Judge Reinhold, Sara Dylan (Bob Dylan's first wife), and John Mabry of the Colorado Rockies.  And just to expand the geographic area past the city limits itself, Delaware was the first state to ratify the US Constitution on December 7, 1787, earning it the nickname "The First State."    Nylon was invented at the duPont laboratories in Seaford, Delaware.

I was born and grew up in Springfield, Missouri.  This is the hometown of Brad Pitt.  In fact he was in high school the same time that I was (just a different high school).
