Laser Hair Removal

At the request of Warhawk I'm starting a thread on laser hair removal.
I'm getting my laser work done through American Laser Centers, but you could go through any reputable provider. The reason I chose ALC is because they have hundreds of locations throughout the U.S. so if I was to move to another state in the middle of treatment I'd be covered. They also offer a 2 year guarantee...if any hair, even one hair, grows after your last treatment they treat the area for free until it's all gone. That's kinda nice.
I paid 2 grand for the whole package, which covers my entire skull...head and face. The only area that isn't being treated is the soul patch area, the flavor savor area just under the lower lip. I've always been fond of that patch, but I have an inability to grow a full goatee or any other facial hair due to the thinness of the growth.
It's 6 treatments spread 6 weeks apart. They take a half hour a piece and the pain is moderate, but more than you might expect. There is redness to the treated area for appx 2-5 days. I have gotten 4 treatments done so far and I would say I have appx 50 percent total hair loss so far. The only thing that sucks is that the hair loss occurs in random spots/patterns..and looks VERY strange if there is any amount of hair growth. I have to keep it completely shaved because of this...even a mild shadow has a funny appearance. For me, it's been totally worth it because I'm a dedicated head shaver, but still have about 85 percent of my hair left on my head..which is a royal pain to shave everyday. This way, there is nothing left..and plus the amount of money I'll save on shaving products over a lifetime will eventually pay for the treatments multiple times over.
If you have any questions, shoot!

So how much more will you have to do to have NO SHADOW? Man, post a larger pic of your hairless skull so we can see the results..
Very intriguing...I know my pal X the H will probably be interested too!

I don't know if I'd do the whole noggin... I actually enjoy shaving

besides, someday I may actually try to grow out what I have left
But I have been thinning about having my neck & 2nd chin area laser'ed. That area is a HUGE pain for me to shave because of the grain pattern and my skin is real sensitive there... Besides, if i ever grow a beard, it'll look clean cut in that respect

I agree, shaving and shadow is not a problem to me as I really enjoy my shave.
Now, I do have other parts of my body I probably would like to laser, and if I could pinpoint certain parts of my face where I wouldn't have to shave, I would give it a go too.
At this point, I'm sure it's still quite a cost.

what kinda money are we lookin at? Just a ballpark figure(different areas=different prices)
I would probablly just do my face around the goat, I hate shaving my face, but I love shaving the dome.

I don't think I could ever do the laser hair removal. I really don't mind shaving, in fact I enjoy it most of the time.

Guys, some things you need to know about laser hair removal:
1. It only works on dark haired, fair-skinned individuals. If your hair is blond or grey, forget about it. If you're a redhead, it may remove some of the hair, but probably not enough to make it worth the expense.
2. It's highly unlikely that your dome will ever be permanently, 100% hairless. I had the carpet removed from my chest and abdomen, as well as my back which was not as hairy as the front. Treatments were finished about a year ago. About 75% of the chest and abdomen hair is gone, but they're still pretty hairy (just not overly hairy a la Austin Powers). The back was completely hairless for a while, but recently that has started growing back. I'm not spending the money to have it done again.
3. The laser could result in patchy hair loss, which could leave you worse off than you are now. It works better for some people than others.
