How Often Should I Shave My Head
« on: July 26, 2025, 11:03:57 PM »
I usually shave on Sunday and Wednesday, but I think I might change it up to every other day. I actually shaved today, Saturday, and I will shave again tomorrow because I always shave my face on Sunday. I would love to shave every day, but I tend to get razor burn & bumps from shaving every day. I love the feel of a smooth head and appreciate any and all feedback!

It is really just a matter of preference.  I also love a daily shave, but I have never had the issues with razor burns.  Maybe a higher quality razor, such as the Gillette Fusion, would help with that.  I was a daily shave for at least my first five years of shaving.  But my baldness and hair turning more white made the stubble invisible, so my laziness took over and now I shave every 2 or sometimes three days.  But I will make sure I have a fresh shave if I have any plans.

And you could always just stop the face shaving and join those of us in the bald and bearded club. :)

It took several months before I didn't have a little razor burn. I did lots of experimenting, and finally my skin got used to the shaving. Every two days works good. At a certain point, I began shaving every morning in the shower. I also love a really smooth bald head. After shaving, I apply some witch hazel that I keep in the refrigerator, and I have a nice shine on my head.

@Kromedome Welcome to SBG.

I think your shaving frequency is just preference. Sometimes I like skipping days because I like how my head has a different texture each day. The day after is a nice mix of smooth and a little stubble, then it's sandpaper then it's soft.

When I was shaving both my face and head, I rotated days. then I gave up on the face and grew my beard back. It was a nuisance and I preferred a smooth shaved head over a smooth face. So the head won.

Regarding razor burn and bumps, use a better blade like a 5-blade fusion. I also use Aveeno Therapeutic Shaving gel. I found that using any other brand, I had to apply King of Shave oil first and then the shaving cream. Also, don't overdue the number of strokes in the same spot. It's just 2 or 3 swipes max. Anything more will lead to razor burn and risk of cuts. There will always be that one pesky stubble that will not go away and mess up the overall smoothness, but let it go. No one sees it. You want to rock a beautiful bald head not one that's all red and irritated.

I shave my head half of the year and wear a flat top half of the year but during the time I shave my head I noticed it I need to shave it about every third day if I try to shave it every day I don?t get as good as shave as if I wait a day or two but if I wait more than three days, the hair is too long And it?s an uncomfortable shave, which requires me the first bust out the clippers so I would say it?s up to you but at least every third day

Thanks for the advice,  but I think I'm going to grow it out. Just kidding! I'm going to try a Sunday,  Tuesday,  Thursday, Saturday schedule and see how that works. Hopefully  I won't have to shave with the grain and then against the grain like I do with my current Sunday - Wednesday schedule.

I believe that the first time I shaved my head was approximately 20 years ago. Between then and now, I'm quite certain that I've grown it out for a considerable amount of time until the urge to shave it again hit, at least 10 times. It's been three weeks since I ditched the flattop, hopefully, for the last time. I'm not sure why, but I truly feel that I will never have hair longer than stubble, ever again.

 I can't believe that I did something new today, I shaved my head this morning, went to work and after I got home from work, I mowed the lawn. After I finished mowing the lawn, I was obviously sweating and probably a bit stinky, so I showered. Whlie washing the noggin, I noticed that I either missed a bunch of spots during the moring shave or my hair grows much faster than I thought it did. After drying off, I shaved my head, again, twice in one day! I am diggin the 'Sly Bald Guy' and hope that my enthusiasm lasts longer than the last 10 or more times that I've gone 'Sly', hopefully forever! I hope ya'll have a great weekend!!!

@Kromedome ,  the longer you keep it shaved, the harder it will be to grow your hair back. I try to grow mine back several times a year, but I always go back to bald. Sometimes it 2 weeks, sometimes it's 8 weeks. I keep thinking it's eventually going to look great, but it never really does. So I end up shavjng it off, and I always think it looks sl much better bald, and of course it feels amazing.

So enjoy wearing a smooth baldie haircut, it really looks great on you!

Last week, I shaved on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday which worked well for me, so I'm repeating that schedule this week. On this past Sunday, I reached my 30 day challenge mark. Here's to 30 more!

Depends on what you want.

I love having a smooth head, so I shave it almost daily. Otherwise it feels like sandpaper to me.
Bald by Choice since July 2023!  Having hair is overrated.
