Anyone get folliculitis on your head?

I've mentioned this before, but will try again.
For years, before I shaved my head, I constantly would get acne/boils mostly on the back of my head. Once I shaved my head, I noticed the problem went away as long as I shaved my head daily. When I stopped shaving, the boils would come back within a week or so, until I returned to daily shaving. I went to a dermatologist, and after a couple topical lotions that didn't work, she wanted me to go on long term antibiotics. I didn't want to do that, so I've kept my head shaved for years.
Just wondering if anyone found a treatment that worked?

I live in Georgia, and we have hot summers. When I had hair, I used to get acne on the back of my head, probably due to excess sweating. I haven’t had this problem since I’ve gone bald. I guess it’s because my head stays cooler and shaving exfoliates the skin.

@chuck63 , sounds similar to what I get. Maybe the sweat glands get plugged up with oil. I tried everything out there when I grew hair back, nothing worked. I must be the daily scraping with a razor that keeps it clean.

This is interesting to read. I did not have any issues with my scalp before I shaved my head daily except dryness, especially during winter. Since shaving my head four years ago, I am able to apply after shave balm (I use Nivea after shave balm) and moisturizer on my head, and this makes the itchiness go away. When I tried to grow my hair back for a few days, my head got very itchy until I shaved my head clean bald again. This is one of the unexpected benefits of shaving my head.

I guess it's just fate that I still have a full head of hair but have to shave it bald. I would still like to wear a flattop if I could, but I'm destined to keep my head shaved daily. After 11 years, I actually enjoy wearing a cueball haircut!

I?ve had the same problem for most of my life. I?ve always worn extremely short haircuts because I was a professional military officer and a police officer and because I just like really short haircuts . It seem like I would always get irritation on the back of my head and neck, which never heal . my dermatologist told me it?s from having very short hair and the sharp edges irritate the follicles. She said I needed to either let my hair grow a little longer or keep it shaved since I?ve been shaving daily, I really have na problem because I?m exfoliating as shave. I also use a really good skin cleaner with salicylic acid in it that cleans the skin so no shaving soap, residue or sebum residue in the pores

My mother is a hair stylist for a living, even at 70. Sometimes when I would visit her at her place, she would often tell me that I had these zits on the back of my head just above the back of my neck when she would cut my hair. I would sometimes get them in my scalp, especially after I used a hair product with oil.
Since shaving my head daily, I don't get any of them anymore. I guess it's all that cleaning and scrubbing from shaving. Sometimes I do use facial scrub for my whole head and not just my face. Not long ago my mother showed up at one of our family gatherings and the first thing she said to me was that my head looked so shiny.

Yes, about 2 weeks into growing back my hair, I would get breakouts no matter how much I kept it scrubbed. I tried cider vinegar and other things with no success. I think my sweat glands easily get infected with oil the hair follicles produce. Luckily, I enjoy shaving my head, and how it looks and feels.

Yeah, I think it was also due to sweat. I noticed that I used to get more zits and breakouts after sweating and using oily hair products.
