Intro/Electric Shaver Advice

• Good evening fellow bald brethren. I'm a Caucasian male who's been shaving my head and face for a very long time. Just stopping by with an introduction and a quick question. Cool how there's a community of bald men online! Really great that you all support each other.
  
  I've tried everything. Cartridge razors, DE razors from vintage to modern and low to high "aggressive" ones, and quite a few foils and rotary electric shavers.
  
  DE shaving just doesn't cut it for me. I developed my "technique" and all that bs and even with very "aggressive" shavers it just took way too long for me to shave my head and face. It will always be a chore, only somewhat enjoyable. Cartridge razors work good but the problem is I can only get a Schick Hydro 5 or a Gillette Mach 3 to maybe last three shaves maximum. It's just too much money...
  
  I tried the Wahl 5 Star Shaver and it left hairs all over the place untouched, an expensive Panasonic foil that did the same, and a Remington one also with the same result.
  
  Norelco AquaTec ones have worked for me pretty well, but it looks like they've come out with a whole new line of the Wet/Dry shavers that are more moderately priced at the $30-$60 range and I'm curious if they perform as well as the old ones.   I'm hesitant, but I am thinking about trying this new Andis foil shaver. It's not the old "Pro Foil" but a newer possibly better one.   I know I said foils didn't do so well for me but I'm thinking maybe that one could be better than the others. Anyway, any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks!

• Hi Drew:  On the very rare occasions that I do not use a DE or SE razor . . . the Andis Foil Shaver that you are thinking about in your link on Amazon is the one that I use.  For about $53, I think that is a great price.  Does it shave close like a DE or SE razor?  Of course not however; it does get close for me it gives a SAS or socially acceptable shave.
  
  Be sure to use a pre-shave such as the Williams Lectric Shave.  It is a menthol, green liquid that you can purchase at Target, Walmart, or Walgreens.  I splash it on my head and let it air dry and it raises the hairs up to make the shave closer.

• Thanks for your feedback, I'm a bit hesitant about that Andis though. The foil shavers never worked for me, and even though this is supposed to have a more powerful motor I'm still reading reviews that say it missed hairs for people and that is a concern for me.

• The Andis is what we use for shaving heads in barber school. (unless the customer wants to pay for a real hot lather shave).  The Andis really works well!  One trick they taught us is after we clipper the hair down to 000 or shorter, dust the head with a very light coat of powder and then use the Andis shaver.  It really does get the head smooth!
