Hey,
I'm new to shaving my head. Or, Ive been doing it for a few months now.
My problem is that I have a very sensitive skin, when I used to shave my chin it was the same. I could shave maybe 1-2 times a week and more then that would give me red, irritated skin. No bumps och acne och stuff like that, only irritation.
This is my procedure..
I get into the shower, put the shaver (I'm using Gillette) under running hot water so the blades are warm and comfy.
I make sure my head is warm and soft and then put on some shavingcream (Gillette again, same as for shaving beard) and start shaving. My hair is all over so I have to shave up, down, left, right.. you know the drill..
After shaving, I rinse my head under the shower, but it always stings when rinsing the shavingcream.
I then continues the shower.
When I get out, I dry myself and add some oil to my head (Maria Ã…kerberg Royal Facial Oil Gentle). This is for sensitive skin.
But my skin still is red and irritated and I love the feel of a newly shaved head, and so does my girlfriend.
Am I doing anything wrong? Is there any way of me reducing the irritation? Id love to shave every 2 days for always being completely bald. Maybe I should just go and have the hair permanently removed?
Thanks for all your ideas and suggestions..
Regards,
Paul
Shave your head last, gives it more time to soften your hair. What kind of Gillette razor? Get a good shaving soap and brush, and reapply often while shaving. After, rinse with cold water. One thing that helped me with irritation when I started headshaving was Bump Patrol. Once my head got used to daily shaving, I didn't need it any longer.
Bump patrol is a must, i agree. Stings but a great product.
Be gentle when you shave. With the grain first. Against the grain next. Take your time! Lather well between passes. Make sure blade is sharp.
