Hey guys! New here!!
I suddenly started losing my hair way back when I was 16!! (25 now). It was falling out in strange places then growing back, after a few years of this my hairline started to recede.. Being young I obviously panicked! Some grew back over time but it was like 1 step forward and then 2 steps back. Once I discovered I was fighting a losing battle with mpb and due to me always having long hair since I was very little..I took to sporting an awful combover using various cover ups such as toppik for work (see picture below) and wearing a beanie hat at all times out of work. I feel that this stole my teenage years as I'd never go out to places where I feared they might ask the unthinkable and get me to remove my hat. The years went on and due to the hairspray and cover ups that I was constantly putting on it just got worse quicker... I even got very very close to having a transplant performed by Vinci in Malaga, getting a 5 year finance term approved.. But last minute I was talked out of it by my grandfather who basically told me that I should be proud of being me f*** what I look like and f*** anyone that doesn't like it. This really hit home with me.. This was a year ago now and I finally got the guts to just get rid of the awfulness.
The pros are that it takes a minuscule amount of time to get ready for anything! And I can wear baseball caps without fear of them messing up my hair!
The cons are that everyone is obviously taking the p*** at work, I was ready for this though so I'm just taking it in my stride

but I also kind of don't like how it looks at all lol! Also it's December and British Decembers are damn cold!!!
Before and after pictures are attached! I just need to be confident with this look and I'll feel fantastic! I feel it will take a while to get there though

Welcome Dan ,big difference from the big mop. So it will take a while to adjust to the short hair. I do think shaving it all the way would be best look for you. Give it a try, grows back in a week.

HUGE Step in the right direction! Like everyone says; it takes time for your brain to reprogram how it sees you, so remember the 30 day rule.
I agree though that it would be easier for you to just go ahead and shave off the scraps. It will look even better when all the hair is gone - there won't be any evidence of "thinning" or "receding" for anyone to even notice then!

You took the right step in my opinion. The combover doesn't fool anyone.
Welcome to the board, Dan.

Thanks guys

really appreciate the support! I was thinking about maybe not biccing the rest of it, but maybe doing it with no guard! I like the feel of stubble :') it's been well received so far and nobody gives me funny looks anymore! Definitely an improvement!! I wish I'd done it years ago when I still had a bit of hair so it would have been a graceful process!! Oh well these things happen

Welcome, Dan! The shorter haircut is definitely an improvement, but that combover...well, the less said about it, the better.

IMO you look 3 million times better in the 'after' pic. I can only imagine that before, people were only noticing your comb over. Now, they're probably noticing your face and how good you look with a bald head. Brave move, and a smart one.

Congratulations in taking the step. A no-guard buzz and a razor blade shave look the same to most, only other head shavers can see the difference. Most guy that blade shave do so for the smooth feel - so if you like the sandpaper/stubble feel, the just buzz. But I would encourage you to try a blade shave as some time, you may be surprised at how good it feels.

Your grandfather was totally right. Combovers fool no one. You're a good looking guy, and you'll own the bald look like a boss.
