Hi guys.
As you all know, I am often going back and forth between shaving and not shaving.
I know, and other people tell me, that I look better with hair, even if it is only by Summertime High, Tight, and Brutal Horseshoe Flattop. But I like the feeling of being clean shaven. (emphasis on "clean"). I cannot stand it when there is any hair on the sides of my head - especially around my ears now with my hearing aids.
BUT - I am also LAZY, LAZY, LAZY. I dislike shaving my face every day and I especially dislike shaving my own head. There is no reason for it, but no matter how long I have kept my head shaved (the last time for 8 months) I just do not like shaving my own head and wind up going to the local Arab barbershop every week anyway.
The last time I shaved my head before leaving the Monastery was about three and a half weeks ago. Since then I have done nothing and my hair and beard were driving me outright nuts!
I went to the local barber last night and he gave me what I consider a great balance between being full-on shaved and truly easy care style. He did what he calls a high bald fade. He ran a #2 blade all over my head and then shaved the sides, back and crown bald, first with an electric shaver and then against the grain with a straight razor. He then faded the sides into the top.
Then he ran a #.5 through my beard, trimmed my mustache and then shaved a really sharp line into the top and bottom of my beard and shaved the rest.
This is really EASY for me. I don't have to comb it and I don't have to shave during the week. And, I at least, think it is still kind of sly. I am thinking that this might be a keeper.
What do you guys think?
