It started kinda like this.....
« on: August 01, 2014, 08:20:13 PM »
So, I decided to add some vintage DE's to the collection.
I tell myself to keep it simple, maybe a red tip or something like that.
I never seem to listen to me  :-[

Here's what the nice postman dropped off today....

All in pretty good condition, doors open smooth and close complete.

I wonder what will arrive tomorrow....

(I'm gonna need a bigger rack for my razors.....)

Very nice. I recently acquired a red tip and a black tip. Where did you get yours?

Nice collection, sir.

Will these be for shaving or for showing? Or both?

Nice. Although I don't use safety razors anymore (somehow, I had major difficulty shaving my head with them,) they are and have always been a work of art compared with the modern stuff. The other beauty with the vintage ones is that aside from the durability is the personal value. One of mine once belonged to my grandfather, who gave it to my father, who gave it to me. Although I hope my comment on that doesn't hijack your thread, I hope to inspire someone else in that aspect.

I gotta try a DE sometime. Is there a learning curve to them?

There is a learning curve but DE shaving just gets easier with practice. I've been wet shaving since February. The idea of it was scarier than it actually is. I caught on pretty quickly without any major blood loss!

Now I really enjoy it. I love all the equipment: I've managed to collect a few razors, brushes, cremes, after shaves, etc. it's become a little addiction!

It's not as steep as you'd think.  Just start with a razor on the mild side.  It only took me 2 or 3 weeks to get comfortable, and another 2 or 3 to start getting really good shaves with them.
