Hey new family! I have been a lurker for about half a year. I am 24 and have been slowly balding for the past three years now, but was in the typical denial stage. I thought I had longer before I needed to "deal with it." Toward the end of the fall semester, i looked in the mirror after I got out of the shower one morning and it hit me. There could be no more denial. I am going to be bald. I completely freaked out and went into a depression for the first time in my spoiled life. I went through a phase for about a month of googling things and talking to as many bald guys I knew who could be like my bald sensei (i actually call one of my friends that now). But after finding this site, with the help of a few older friends' wisdom, I am finally at a place where i do not think about it nearly as much as I used to and am no longer thinking this is the end.
If i said it didn't bother me 100%, I would not be true to myself, but it is nowhere near the degree it was 6 months ago. I currently buzz a 1 on top fading down to a .5 on the sides and back. I have been wanting to shave it all the way with a razor, but it's a big step. There is never "the right time" but I think I still need a little push to blade up haha.
I want to thank Tyler and all of you regulars (new and old) for making this site what it is. It helped me a lot and enjoyed messaging with a few of you all. It is now that I officially give my introduction into this new family.
p.s. I feel like there is a whole new world I never knew existed until recently. It's like a bald brotherhood that no one understands unless you're one of us ha. Has anyone else felt that way?

Welcome! It's good to see you here. It sounds like you probably don't need too much of a "push" to finally go smooth with a razor, but if you do, just remember that shaving your head isn't permanent; if you don't like it you can always grow it back in a week or two, and you'll know what you look like bald. Since you already buzz it so short it shouldn't be a super drastic change anyway. (You'll feel a lot different, though.)
I'm glad you've got a positive attitude about it now. I wish more guys in their twenties like us would choose the bald look, but then again, there's definitely something good about being unique and standing out from the crowd.
Shave it for thirty days, if only to see how you like it. Remember, you have nothing to lose!

Welcome ...2BeSly,
I'll add that the visual difference between the tight buzz and being shaved is slight ... but to the "wearer" it's huge. You can shave down to the skin at the start of the weekend and nearly return to your buzz look within a few days - if you want to.
It is different for every guy. I've been shaving daily for 2+ years and cannot fathom the thought of having hair again - and I'm BBC (bald by choice) and could easily have full coverage of gray hair again. Yuck.
It's often written around here that once you have the thought (or the itch) that you need to shave it down, at least once to satisfy your curiosity. I encourage you to do that.
Regardless, welcome to the community and for moving across the hurdle of denial.

Welcome to the Forum! Your acceptance of losing your hair and embracing your slyness was pretty short. Good for you. For some of us that road is long (mine, for instance!) While you may not be at 100% it sounds like you're close to being there. It only gets better from here. You may be ready for that razor shave sooner than you think.
This sight is a great place for support and camaraderie. Post a photo when you get a chance.

Welcome.
Good comments above.
1. Difference between #1 and bald is huge for the guy, but almost not noticed by others.
2. When you do shave your head, you'll be asking yourself, "Why did I wait so long?"
3. If you REALLY don't like it, you could grow it back in 1-2 weeks.
4. Be sure to apply the 30 day rule. I suspect you'll like the bald head.
While there are a lot of naturally balding guys on this site, young and old, there are also some bald by choice (BBC), who just really like the bald look and feel.
Bald looks so much better than the comb over, or skimpy hair on top.
Again, Welcome.

Thanks guys for the replies and affirmations. I recognize all of you guys from previous posts that helped me through. The only downer is that I didn't get a typical "hello fellow crome domer" from warhawk haha. sir harry, a few of your posts have persuaded me to try growing out my beard as well haha. And especially Frontier Guy, you speak a lot of wisdom on here to guys going through the struggle that helped me a lot. Thanks for being awesome! I've seen a few rumors of some kind of bald convention. if that isn't a national thing, we should make it one. I'm from the south originally, but am now in New England for studies

Welcome to the brotherhood! From personal experience, you will be happier when you finally shave it with a razor. It will be such a huge relief that you'll have more energy for other things. I've been sly almost three months now and don't regret it one bit. Shaving my head is something I look forward to every morning.
