Hey guys i joined last summer when i buzzed my hair down to a 3 guard due to thinning. I guess i was still in denial a little because i grew to back out over the winter. However i was getting tired of the thinning every time i looked in the mirror after getting out of the shower. I buzzed back down to a 3 tonight. I think it is a look a i can get used to but i am receeding more on the right side than the left. Is this something any of ya'll faced and did it bother you? It is probably one of those things that other people don't notice but i just wanted some other opinions. Thanks.

Mother Nature is sloppy and rarely does things in a symmetrical manner. I experienced the same thing you've noticed. Probably no one but you will notice it. And if you shave it off, you won't notice it either.

Hey, Country, glad to see you back (not that you were gone long)...It sounds like the early stages of Norwood 2 (temple recession). Is there a way you can post a pic so we can be sure? In my case my hairline started creeping back all at once, but I have seen what you're talking about on other guys, though.

If it's something that bothers you, perhaps it's time to consider shaving. No hair, means no uneven hairline.

Thanks for the picture. Yeah, I see what you mean.....unfortunately, it looks like your entire frontal hairline is starting to creep back....Now that the weather should be starting to warm up, why don't you try a bald fade type haircut to minimize the appearance of the receding hairline? Sadly, unless you like rocking a horseshoe, when the vertex starts going, sly may have to happen for you....but for now, the recession is standing out a bit you may have to cut the sides and back closer so it won't be so obvious..Good luck!

P.S. I know the others are encouraging you to go sly, but you should do it only when you feel comfortable within yourself to do so. As you know, if you do it and don't like it, you should be back to where you are in about three weeks or so. But once again, you should make the sly move on your terms.

Time for a reality check. You've developed a widow's peak which has now begun to thin significantly. The thinning is going to continue until it disappears entirely -- and that is going to happen a lot sooner than you would like. If you do nothing you'll be left with a completely bald forehead and fairly thick intact hair that starts somewhere on the very top of your head. This is the same situation I found myself in. It's an awkward balding pattern -- I would have preferred a bald spot in the back over extreme frontline recession.

I know this is not what you want to hear but when I was at that stage I would have been greatly relieved if someone had told me that it was time to take action. At the very minimum, you should buzz your entire head down to at least a #1 which will help minimize the difference in density between the front and back. And I would give some serious thought to shaving by summertime.

One final word of advice -- when you know that something needs to be done, it's best to deal with it right away. The anxiety level drops dramatically once you've dealt with it and you can move on to more important things.

The human body tends to show asymmetry. One testicle normally hangs lower than the other, one breast is generally a little bigger than the other, facial hair grows slightly differently on the two sides. So, I'm not surprised that your hairline isn't symmetic. That said, I'd suggest buzzing down a step at a time. Maybe by this summer, you'll be ready to shave it all off. As others have mentioned, then, you'll be totally even--smooth bald everywhere!

You have some good advice, and you have already buzzed to a #3. My suggestion to to go ahead and take the plunge and razor shave. You see how good all the guys here look after shaving. If that is too large of a step for you, take it down to a #2 for a few weeks, then a #1, then no guard, and then with a razor. Shaving with a razor is not that much different after a no guard buzz.

I agree with the thought of buzzing down the rest of it more for now to help the overall look. Otherwise, it is more drastic of a difference between the front and the rest of the hair. You will like it more than you know... and will feel less stressed about it.

I kept my hair buzzed for years, all the while, I watched it recede and thin further and further. This past summer I really began to notice this asymmetric thing going on. I had enough of that and have been shaved sly pretty much since the fall. Problem solved.

I buzzed my hair down with zero guard for years because my hair loss was symetrical. The last 5/6 months its being going fast in different areas and I haven't felt comfortable with how its looked. I took the plunge a couple of weeks ago and I'm more relaxed and think I look neater on top. Shave it all off, what you have left will grow back quickly and then make a decision.
