I grew up with an angel on the top as my grandmother crocheted it for us. We have a star on our outside tree and I just noticed that we don't have any topper on our inside tree. I might have to remedy that now.

If I remember correctly, we had a star on top growing up.
I just looked at the tree this year and there is an angel on top.

As a kid, we had a glass ornament that was neither a star nor an angel.
Since my wife and I have been married, our tree has had an angel on top. It is the first ornament to go on the tree. -

The big tree in the dining room has a star on top of it; it's sort of an old school metal star. The tree in the foyer has a Coca-Cola Christmas Bear - from the old Coke Commercials and the tree in the den has a train engine on top of it.
Speaking of Christmas and Coca - Cola .... Who remembers this old Coke commercial from the earling 1970's ? -

Keeping with the nautical theme of this year's ornaments, the top of the tree has a (ship's) marine propeller.

I remember that campaign well. Sweet. Brings back nice memories.
Few years back, Coke did a reissue of it, with the members of the original group (New Seekers?), plus all their families. Wish they would run it again. -

As a kid we had a star every year.
I think it broke when my parents moved (or it stopped working) and she ended up getting an angel instead. -

One year at the offfice we decorated the tree with 3.5" floppy disks in many colors. No one is using them any more and we had several packs of bold colored disks.
Quite a hoot.
