Do you just use it after you shave or a couple times a day?

What is it?
A mild astringent.
(Also one of my favorite characters in the Warner Brothers cartoons.)

Okay, so I Googled this witch hazel of which you speak. Does it burn? I'm a big pussy.

No, it does not burn.
Used it this morning.
I nicked my head on some spots that were poking up almost like pimples. The blade caught the raised skin and made a minor nick. Small amount of blood. Put on some witch hazel. Helped. It's an astringent.

I never have tried it for shaving. I remember my Mom having some and when I was a teenager, I used it on any acne spots that would appear... (I'm not sure if it was a good idea, but luckily I never had much acne).

When I Googled "Witch Hazel", all of the picture results were for 'roid pads.

Witch Hazel does not burn and works well...My only complaint is that it smells like stale vinegar, but given my line of work, I've smelled worse things!

Witch Hazel is one of those old fashioned lotions that has a myriad of applicatons. Beyond part of my shaving ritual, I use it as a body "splash" in the shower. Closes the pores and just feels good, bracing.
(And, yes, Witch Hazel is on of the best minor Warner Brothers cartoon characters.)

I try to use it everyday after a shave. I love the soothing feeling that it gives you. It is great stuff and very inexpensive.

I use witch hazel after every shave. It's the main ingredient in branded aftershaves. I mainly use it because it feels refreshing and tightens up the skin.
It will burn a small amount if you manage to cut yourself during the shave; this is because it is partially made up of an alcohol. It should not burn at all if there are no fresh cuts on the skin.
