Hi guys, I'm Jeremy and I've enjoyed the group for a while now as a lurker. I've finally decided to go for it. Over the past two years I've found myself going shorter and shorter on the electric clippers and liking what I see. I'm down to no guard now, and have decided to set a date of December 10th to forge ahead with the 30 Day Rule (changing shifts at work). I figured a similar rule for growing a full beard has worked for me, so this would be (hopefully) a similar experience. Still bearded and loving it. :-). Thanks

Welcome Jeremy! Just as I suspected before your pic was posted.... you are almost there (the zero guard has gotten you prepared). Go for it. If you feel you need to set a date of Dec. 10th, then that's cool. Be warned that if you read into a number of the threads on here, you may decide to shave it earlier...

Actually, Jeremy, from the photo, your hair is so short that shaving it completely won't make much difference. However, as others have said, you'll feel a lot better. There's something very satisfying about removing the last bit of stubble and feeling perfectly smooth scalp. I bet that you make before the December 10 target date. Go ahead, take out the razor and the shaving cream, and finish it off!

Hi Jeremy,
I've been clipping with no guard for a lot of years. This past summer I shaved completely bald for the first time and my wife didn't even notice the difference. I do love the feel of the completely sly look.
I get more of a reaction from the beard I'm currently trying to grow!
Good luck!

Jeremy, welcome. I had to chuckle.
Almost two years ago I went SLY. In November I had set a date of Jan 21st to shave my head. (Wife was going to be out of town on her winter vacation). But I did not make it. I shaved it a few days early. It's OK to jump the gun.
A buzz no guard is essentially Sly, except for the feel. The SLY feel is, in my mind, what keeps guys shaving their heads. It took my daughters, who live at home, three days to notice the shaved head, going from no guard clippers to shaved!
Welcome. Go for it. It's OK if you decide to start sooner than Dec 10th.
Mr. Zed.

Welcome aboard, Jeremy! The beard looks good and will look even better when you go sly. Good luck with the deed...but I bet you will do it sooner than December 10th. Keep us posted!

Welcome to the SBG forum, Jeremy.
Why wait ? Get on with shaving your head just as soon as you can ! You may very well enjoy the novelty and experience of the 30 day rule and smooth head which goes with it.
For additional contrast, you might want to grow your beard a bit more.

Welcome Jeremy. I say you give it a go over the weekend (Friday, as soon as you get home). The difference is noticeable only to you, and I guarantee you will love it.
If it's not what you're expecting, then you will be back to your buzzed length by Monday. Good luck and let us know what you think.

Welcome Jeremy.
I understand your reasoning for picking the date, but if you are like most of us, come December 10, you may be asking yourself why you waited so long.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
You're going in the right direction and I'll be honest.... don't hate me! When I looked at your picture your hairline draws attention to your forehead. Now don't get me wrong you're a good looking guy but it reminded me of when my hair was your length and my lovely colleagues called me "Captain forehead". The thought I had is totally driven by your hair line as it was when people said it to me! Yet when I shaved off the hair fully I never ever got that comment again, I'm not aware of it as I used to be and I now feel more comfortable with how I look.
Once you get used to the idea yourself you'll reap the benefits. Sadly in yours and my case the hair ain't coming back.
|You'll look great with your hairline less noticeable!

Slyest, no hate here. Haha. You are right, and I agree. Great to hear real thoughts and opinions on here. Going for it this week, will post pics. Thanks to all for the great comments.
