Thank you all for participating in this site.  I started shaving my head about 8 years ago, after years of trying to hide the obvious truth that I had lost most of my hear with hats, comb overs, beanies and the like. I considered a hair transplant and other desperate measures.  It significantly damaged my self-esteem and was a constant distraction.  I worried about the types of things that many of young posters here are concerned with. 

I've long sense embraced being bald and shaving my head.  In 2005, I found one internet site for support and I was very grateful for it.  I recently stumbled upon this site while searching for bald heads and beards (I'm considering growing a beard) .  I wish I had found this site when I was struggling with the idea of shaving my head for the first time.

In short, thank you to all of the members who contribute here.  I look forward to being a part of your community.

 I found this site the same way you did... I was searching while I was trying to decide if I would grow a full beard instead of the goatee I had at the time.  At that time, I was buzzing my hair w/o the guard.  Shortly after joining, I shaved my head for the first time, and haven't gone back since.

I found this site around or shortly after I had a barber buzz me down to a #000 and realized, what the heck, I should just go for it.

I got some positive comments, or nothing at all (one co0worker said it was so short before, it wasn't really noticeable). Even my mom, who doesn't like it, even said "you have a good head shape for the bald look."

So, welcome and thanks for joining in and speaking up. We need more guys like yourself to help those "on the fencers" to realize it's just hair. Just less of it.
