A nice story....
This happened to me yesterday.
I've been shopping for a men's travel bag for the shave kit that's included in the raffle for Scotty's Ride that I'm having on the Forum. I had no idea that finding a travel bag would be so difficult. They're everywhere at Christmas time but apparently that's the only time they are easy to find.
So yesterday the wife and kids and I went to the Mall about 30 miles away in order to maximize our shopping options. First stop... Kohl's.... no luck. Then Ross's, Christmas Tree Hill, Sears, Macy's and a couple other small stores in the Mall..... still no luck.
So I was almost at the point of desperation as I walked into "BonTon". I went straight to the men's cologne and after shave counter and they had a boat load of them!!..... if you bought all the products that went with each "Collection" (No "collection" under about $70... no thanks).
So I started to walk away to go back to the men's accessories section to take a little peak and with little hope. But just then the Lady working the cosmetics counter came up behind me and asked, "Are you looking for something specific sir?". My reply, "Yes, I am. I'm looking for a men's travel bag for toiletries".
She then said that there were some on clearance in the men's clothing area and that she would take me back to show me where they were. Well on the walk back I mentioned to her how hard of a time i was having finding a bag and then I was running out of time to find one. She casually asked me why I "was running out of time". So I gave her a quick rundown on Scotty's Ride and the shave kit that I had put together for the raffle.
She took me back to the men's area and sure enough there were about a half a dozen bags marked down 60%, but still pretty pricey. She scooped one up and said, "Follow me for a second". Off we went to the register where she quickly made a phone call.
Then she hung up and said, "Follow me, I want to check on something". Off she went to the upstairs offices while I waited in the downstairs hall. A few minutes later she came back and off we went back to the cosmetics counter. When we got there she said, "I may have a bag that I can just give you."
She opened a cabinet, reached in, and pulled out three travel bags, all three still wrapped in plastic. She handed them to me and said, "I hope these are nice enough, Are they?". I was shocked.
I went in expecting to spend about $30 or $40 for a bag.... and walked out with 3 brand new bags free of charge. The kindness of strangers never ceases to amaze me.
I was having a rough day yesterday because it would have been my Dad's 78th birthday if he hadn't passed late last year. Then this kind, generous Lady walked into my day and made everything OK.
Wow, Mike.
What a great experience. That must have been one excellent and inspiring description of Scotty's Ride you gave her.
Condolences about your Dad, sir.
Puts your faith back in people doesn't it....what a great lady
Great story, Mike.
I like how a bad day can turn around in an instant. (We sometimes only see it when it happens in reverse).
That's awsome! Travel bags? My wife only lets me use freezer ziplocs! Meh!

Well the freezer bags are used for all the stuff that could leak into the tour pack or saddle bags!!!
Very nice story. Gotta love the random kindness of strangers!
Yes, nice story. Looking forward to hearing about Scotty's Ride this weekend.
Our family will be in Atlanta for a full weekend of English Country Folk Dance. Someone is hosting us, so we won't have to pay for a hotel. But that's all another story.
Someone is going to win a nice shave kit. Thanks for all your work.
BTW, I like your new profile picture. With the cap off, we can see that you really are a SBG.
I'll be posting some Scotty's Ride pictures on Sunday afternoon.
The weather forecast for our area on Saturday is 74 degrees and sunny. Perfect riding weather!! This type of weather will actually bring out even more Bikes... which means more donation money for the Families that need it in our area.
That's my wife and my brother in the photo with me. We had a crazy good time that night.
