Glad to have found this place. Been having some issues with razor shaving lately, and I already am finding some great advice here.
Been shorn off and mostly on for the greater part of my life. Always with a sensor, recently moved to the four blade "dollar shave" blades.
They feel great to me, though I've read some not so great reviews here about them. It makes sense though. On some level, you almost always get what you pay for.
I need a close shave. I want nothing up there. Nothing. I would almost consider laser treatment, but I couldn't handle the after effects.
I thankfully meet a fellow that used epil stop at the right time, so I know not to go down that road.
I came here to find an electric, but haven't made up my mind yet.
We'll see.
BALD IS BEAUTIFUL!
Welcome AR!
Stick around and post up when something interests you!
Welcome to the forum! Check out some of the other posts and threads and you may run across techniques and/or products that could give you the smoothness that you want. Good luck!
Welcome to SBG.
I have found that shaving with a razor out beats by far using an electric razor. I like a smooth dome too.
Good luck. There are many threads here with posts by experienced SBG that will help you out. You look great with a sly dome.
Welcome to the forum. A better blade will make all the difference. If you're partial to four blade razors, give the Schick Quattro a try. Many of the guys here are fans. Let us know how it goes.
welcome, sir.
Sorry, but I don't think I ever have heard of an electric that gets as close as a blade.
I use the Fusion and a little bottle of oils called Shave Secret that does an incredible job of helping me get a really close shave - and you can get it cheap at WalMart.
If an electric is what you seek then look no further than Panasonic and their "Linear" line. Do they shave as close as a blade? Probably not. Will the level of smoothness be acceptable for most outings? Definitely. I have an ES8243K that I use when I'm in a hurry or if I have healing wounds from the blade. It works fine and unless someone gives you a dome massage they won't know the difference.
A couple of things that might help are Williams Lectric Shave or another pre-electric shave lotion called Afta (it's either Gilette or Schick). With the Lectric Shave there are some concerns with corrosion but I water mine down with a little alcohol or some of my Osage Rub (available on Amazon) and I wash my blades immediately after shaving to get the gunk off.
There's a group of dudes on here, led by Simply Red, who are avowed electric shavers. I fall somewhere in the middle. I prefer a blade shave but I have no problem with using the Panasonic on a whim.
In any case the only shame from using an electric is that which we heap upon ourselves.
Welcome to the forum good sir!
I agree that nothing beats the creamy, smooth skin after a shave. That being said, my Fusion rocks the shave and I can sometimes get about 18 hours before the stubble breaks free. I'd rather just be always smooth myself, so we're not far off in that regard.
I have found that my Panasonic (can't recall the model # now but I think it's an 83##S? wet/dry dual foil, is acceptable for a quick denuding of the scalp, but it doesn't last as long. If you want to use one for the "in-between shaves" it will probably be OK, but I find that it takes as long, if not longer, to shave with the electric so I usually break out the soap and brush and lather it up. There's nothing like being a "perfectionist!!"

Hope to see you around and if you happen upon any tips, products or suggestions for a close, comformtable shave, please share!! (P.S. I have heard a lot of good things about Shave Secret, I need to give that a try!)
