Anyone Know Matt Lauer?
« on: July 24, 2013, 08:00:04 AM »
Just out of personal preference I never watch "The Today Show" but this morning was an exception. Looking at Matt Lauer is a tutorial on why some men should shave their head and he's it. It's great that he's not concealing his baldness but the surrounding fringe of buzzed white and grey hair ages him. Okay, so he's not a kid of 40 anymore but as he's wearing it now, he looks closer to a well preserved 75. Maybe it's in his hefty contract with NBC/Universal that he sport the horseshoe fringe but in his case, it doesn't give him gravitas or a fatherly qualtity, it just makes him look like a man foolishly clinging to vestiges of his youth long after it was gone.

So if anyone knows him, do the man a favour, take him aside, hand him a razor, electric or bladed, and his course should be clear.

I have a friend that works in Rockefeller Center. He actually would love to shave it but it's in his $18 million year contract that he not be sly. And the only reason is because Al is. (I'm not sure why Al being sly  makes a difference. Maybe it be too expensive for the hair/makeup department to pay for powder for to fully bald heads? Weird  Although, at one time he is rumored to have hair plugs so he might also have really nasty scars here too..

For 18 mill, I think I'd let them dictate my haircut... lol

O0 +1. For 18 mil they could plant hair on my back.

I noticed it appeared to be more tightly buzzed when he was at the topping out of the WTC.  It appears just a bit longer now.

No problem, loose Al. He's pointless and annoying. His wife, Debra Roberts, is a far superior reporter and is a welcome presence. Al, as the successor to Willard whatever his name was, is a poor choice but then Willard wasn't much more than an affable boob. Then let Lauer get peeled.

I'm not a huge fan of Al, but then again, I don't watch the Today Show. I did notice Matt was pretty tight up there and wondered why he didn't chrome it up, I guess for 18 mill I would let them have their say too.

BTW, it's Willard Scott. :)

His current look may not be ideal, but it's many times better than it was prior to when he first buzzed it. It looked like the hair and makeup crew at Rockefeller Center was doing all they could to style what was left of the poor guy's hair in a way that concealed his hair loss...and as I know from first-hand experience, it's fighting a losing battle.

When he first appeared on the air with a buzzcut (after a vacation), the media commented on how short Lauer's hair was, to which I wanted to say, "I'll show you what short looks like!"  :*))

In my opinion, the prototype for a sly on-air personality is The Weather Channel's Jim Cantore, who also had quite a journey to achieving total slyness; like Lauer's, his journey was first marked by trying to camouflage, followed by gradual steps to sly. But then again, for some reason the "big three" networks have always been a bit more controlling of their on-air talent than the cable networks. And as others have stated: As happy as I am being sly, for $18 million per year...you bet I'd stop shaving!
Now if a man loses the hair of his head, he is bald; he is clean.

For $18 M I'd need a body guard and who wants that. I'm satisfied with my current job where I can shave my head and wear an earring.
