Hello fellow Sly brothers!
I've been back and forth with being Sly for quite some time now. I'm receding mainly just on top and in the front of my head but it's noticeable enough to have me have taken the plunge a couple of years ago now trying to go completely sly. I've tried so many different razors, creams, gels, etc.. and usually end up getting frustrated with how long it takes me, grow it out a good week, week and a half and then go get a high bald fade. Which looks good as long as I don't bend my head down. The last few times, I've been using my HB sport with shave secret and head slick and it takes me a good 30-40 minutes to shave my head in the shower. I find that I have to go over the top of my head a good 3-4 times even sometimes to make sure I get every spot. After I shave my head, I'd say about 5-6, sometimes maybe even 7 hours most of that fuzz has grown back so I'm barely getting half a day out of the shaves. It almost just seems not worth it anymore. I really don't know what to do and I'm becoming desperate already. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Did try the HB ATX once...but I don't even remember why I stopped using it. Probably missed spots with it... Thoughts?

Another thing to add - I started ATG when I was shaving a couple of years ago and have never gone WTG. The few times I tried going that way (well after I'd been shaving ATG) it never seemed to really do anything.

Hi bud, have you consider trying out Gillette guard with razorock shave gel? It really is my favorite combination for both a fast shave with very little to no irritation. Because my hair is so thick and I have no hair loss, quite the opposite, I found that using a Mach 3 or other cartridge Raiders just was not working for me. But with DE shaving, as with the Gillette guard, that problem has been eliminated. It takes many fewer passes now with the Gillette guard and razorock shave gel, only about 8 to 10 minutes total, and I'm on my way. I bought mine from the Italian barber. I really could not be more pleased, and the price is right. The razorock gel lasts me a long time, and even the Gillette guard blades seem to last me through 5 or 6 shaves. Even better, though I have to order the Gillette guard and blades online, the cost is a fraction of the price I was paying for Mach 3 cartridges which seemed to get dull after just one use on my full head of hair. If you try this out, let me know how it works for you.

No, I've never used that Gillette Guard or razorrock shave gel. What's so different about it? Can they be purchased locally?

I have found that since I got a Panasonic wet dry 4 blade linear, ES43 something, that using that with Edge gel plus going over it first with Gillette Mach 3 gets my head as smooth as the palm of my hand. The Panasonic alone gets nearly blade close. It was more than 12 hours before I fely ANY regrowth at all. It was like I could not even regrow it was so smooth. This gives me the smoothest head for the longest time of anything I ever tried.

It's actually not that bad....and the blades are dirt cheap (a 10-pack of Wilkinson's cost $1.76 at Walmart). When I store the blade in baby oil, I can get as many as 10-12 shaves off of one blade!

Wow! How's it different? What's the method as opposed to cartridge razors?

For one thing, there is a blade on both sides.....(hence the name double-edge). If one side gets clogged up, you can simply flip the razor over and shave with the other side. (of course, you can take the cover off and rinse the hair off of the blade and the razor). The cover more often than not prevents you from cutting yourself (mostly). The big key is applying your HeadSlick with some Shave Secret with a shaving brush (even if you lather one side at a time instead of lathering your whole head all at once). The brush spreads your lather evenly making the razor glide cleanly with fewer passes (Most of the old school barbers use a shaving brush when applying lather for shaving, and their shaves tend to be smoother than barbers who apply lather with their hands).

Good to know but I'm a bit nervous still to try the DE razor...Heh
