Hi all: Just a quick update on my "situation." My shave today, for the first time, was almost nick and cut free, even against the grain. Based on the suggestions provided, I started to: 1) Shave in the shower, 2) Use a better shaving cream (HeadSlick), 3) Use the apricot exfoliator as a pre-shave ritual, 4) Use an after-shave moisturizer (BaldGuyz), and 5) Use baby oil as a lubricant under the shaving cream. I was actually very surprised about that last one...the baby oil seemed to really help and made for a much smoother shave (although I am sure also it was a combination of all of the above that has greatly improved the shaving process).
Anyways, I am so thrilled to finally be getting the hang of this. It's a big thumb in the eye to my bad genes that caused this early hair loss :-) This forum has also been a lifesaver -- what did people do before the Internet, anyways?
Awesome bro! Glad you had some good success with the tips you learned.
awesome rjf..you definetly learned and USED some of the best tips that a new shaver can learn...i'm glad i found this place too..i'd still be combing a ghost!
Welcome rjf!!!! I use shaving oil instead of cream or other products. It give me better protection and stays slick with more water. Also try using a new razor each time and don't use a lot of pressure. These work for me. Just stick with it, the result will be worth the experimentation.
