Ever hear a song and have the feeling of being transported to a specific moment in time? It happened to me tonight.
My wife and I went out to dinner and when we entered the restaurant, the song playing was "Route 101" by Herb Alpert. I turned to my wife and said, "I can tell you exactly where I was when I first heard this song!" It was a Thursday night in late September 1983. My fiancée (now my wife) and best friend had picked me up at JFK Airport and the three of us were driving across the Verrazano Narrows Bridge when this song came on the radio. I don't know why I remember it so vividly - the song itself is not particularly great, but it was like being transported back to that mild evening for the three plus minutes the song was playing. My wife just smiled.
I can't recall any specifics but I'm sure I've experienced the same thing.
All the time, the human mind is a fascinating thing
I've had that happen before also.
Have you ever had the opposite happen where you know exactly what's going to happen before it happens? Like you've been there before but you never actually have?
There have been a few times that something has happened and I say to myself....I remember dreaming about that! Almost like a self fulfilling prophecy...There are also songs that I always associate with events that happened.
For me the song Is "Bad Moon Rising" by Credence Clearwater Revival. It was late Summer of 1969 and my Mom and Dad had a party in the basement of our rowhouse. I was 9 years old.
I vividly remember lying in bed on that hot Summer night, house windows open, and the sound of late night laughter coming up from the basement. The music I heard drifting in the windows included Herb Alpert & the Tiajuana Brass, Tom Jones, ..... and CCR performing "Bad Moon Rising". I've loved the song and the band ever since.
