Advice on new blades for my ATX wanted
« on: February 03, 2013, 07:39:18 PM »
Just wondering what all of you would suggest that I should try on my Headblade ATX.  I have only used the 4 blade system that comes with the ATX but do not really like it that much.  With the whole suspension thing and having to put some pressure on the blades, I find the 4 blade to feel more irritating.  Not in look, just in feeling.

I was thinking about using the 6 blade cartridge thinking that I might not have to use as much pressure on the suspension system to get my scalp smooth.  On the other hand I see that some on here like the 3 blade cartridge from Headblade and some others us Atras or Sensors.  If I did use a non suspension blade with the ATX does it make it as dangerous as a Headblade Sport?  I was thinking about maybe trying the HB3 on my ATX.

Basically what I am after is a nice irritation/cut free shave which my Gillette Fusion Proglide and Shick Hydro 5 give me.  But I would like to use my ATX once and a while because it is faster.

Kevin, I use the ATX with a Wilkinson Sword double blade and the yellow adapter. It's not quite as close as I can get with the Hydro 5, but, like you said, it is faster

Thanks for the suggestion Doug.  How do the Wilkinson double blades perform for you?  Are  your shaves pretty nick free/irritation free?  I just might have to look into these.  I also took the plunge and ordered the Headblade 6 blade cartridge.  I will see if they perform better then the 4 blade for me.

I've had pretty good experiences with them. When they have nicked me its been because of operator error (lack of attention, going too fast, etc.). At less than $4.00 for a ten pack, they are worth the "risk" of trying them out.
