I can see why many wouldn't notice the enhanced locks, there was alot about Agassi to divert you, first of all his spectacular play. Jean shorts, pink polo shirts, pierced ears etc. For the time he was defying many of the sacred cows of tennis traditions and, frankly, loosened the game for future players. And, of course, there was his superlative play, his infectious grin and his ability to charm fans something few players ever have to the degree that he did and does. (Djokovic does, Federer is Swiss pleasant, Nadal a compulsive player and Murray....has raised dour to an art form. ) In the end lets understand a young man's vanity in a hairy part of the century and also admire him for dong the right thing before what he'd done became a joke.
