Blades fitting the atx?
« on: November 03, 2012, 09:00:24 AM »
I have just purchased the atx however am looking to use cheaper blades if possible. Is anyone aware of any blades made by gillette etc which will fit the atx model? Thanks

I don't think so on adaptor that comes with it. However, if you get the adapters that fit the sport, you can try a lot of different blades. I use the ATX with the yellow adaptor and wilkinson sword (atra generics) blades with good results.

Thanks for the advice. Do the adapters just fit on to the mechanism that comes with the atx....or do you have to remove an existing part and replace with the yellow adapter? As I said, I ve just bought my first headblade and dont wsh to waste money on the wrong blades. Cheers

The black tension adapter...
It comes off and can be replaced with a different adapter
The one that is stock is black
I believe there are two other adapters available
Someone please correct me if I am wrong

I know there is a yellow adapter,as well
I assume it is the stock adapter on the sport model

The yellow adaptor is stock on the sport. I think the sport still comes with the black adaptor as well.

Your right, Doug, it still does.  The generic Atra's give a pretty close shave.

Yep, as far as I know there are 3 adapters.

The black ATX adapter works with the HB4 and HB6 blades
The yellow adapter works with the HB3 and Atra type blades
The smaller black adapter works with sensor type blades.

I think Headblade sells 3 packs of adapters on their site.

I've recently tried using the HB3 with the yellow adapter on the ATX and I love it.  I'm about to give the Sensor Excel a try on there as well.
